Another Fail for me lol, I'm a newbie. Just realized how much better RO water is for my reef tank and here I am using treated (With Prime) tap water.

My tank is a 45 gallon and I'm wondering which RO system people are using and having good success. From what I understand there is some decent ones around $100?

Thanks in advance.

Before everyone recommends BRS RO unit I would recommend this one

This one has a line for drinking and for your tank. 100+ gpd and comes with very fancy faucet. I've hooked up 4 RO units from this manufacture... Never leaked but you want to make sure you tighten the joints yourself and add teflon tape. I hooked this one in January at my moms house - they have a 120 gallon tank I left there but I maintain

Watergeneral makes koolermax. the one i currently have was $135. (picture below). I have extra quick connect i purchased that I will add infront of the dual DI chambers for easy removal. I am in an apartment so the space I have infront of the RO is about 12" so therefore messy by my standards.... invest in a TDS meter as well - preferably the one that hooks inline to your incoming water and outgoing water.

Check out Air, Water, and Ice. They have absolute exceptional quality to their builds and warranty and customer service is hard to beat.

I would suggest the ro buddy from aquatic life....I know it's a bit $, but really easy to use and change filters. You don't need a ton of water a day either do a 100gpd unit would be overkill :-)

Thanks for advice guys.

You'll have nothing but problems if you don't use a ro/di system designed by and for fish tanks. Please do yourself, the fish, corals, and the hobby a favor and upgrade. This is an expensive hobby, cutting corners will come back to bite you later. You probably won't listen, but here's hoping you do!

I have a BRS RO unit that has all Spectrapure filters in it and an add on 2 stage Spectrapure DI unit. Shoulda saved myself the trouble and gone all Spectrapure from the start! :)

Honestly there are so many companies with many different brands that are very nice. I suggest getting a list from the input here and then comparing prices and options that best fit your needs.

Also what I have read is that an Inline TDS meter is not as accurate as a good handheld meter.

These are relatively inexpensive and Im looking for a good TDS meter just to verify.. I mean the in-line ones after some time I can imagine will get some crud on them that may effect reading? I just added a TDS meter for the first time and like the fact I'll know when to replace pre filters and di.
