WHAT IS YOUR DREAM TANK?

I think my somewhat realistic is a bit like @dantimdad's. Tank would be a 125-180 range, with a display fuge (that part is less realistic) and sump in another room for easy access, automated water changes/automatic saltwater mixing station.

I'm more of a fish than coral person. But I do love some corals, the tank would have lots of LPS and lots of montis and birdnest coral. Fish would be Copper band butterfly, yellow regal angel, pair of potters or multi barred angels, pair of fathead anthias, pair of blue star leapord wrasses and a red tail tamarin wrasse, maybe a tang or majestic fox face then some smaller fish (shrimp gobies, blennies, pygmy geometric hawks, red line cardinals). In my dream the refugium has some fish too, but not very many and only very small, more muted ones (like a marsh ecosystem).

A less realistic dream would be closer to 250 gallons and would have a majestic angel and desjardini tang and either powder blue or achilles. The total fantasy is a sumpless 8/10 foot tank divided by a wall of rock 1/3 of the way through, with the fuge talking 2' of the tank....

for now I'm just trying to finish QTing two fish in my tiny kitchen for my 10 gallon in my tiny living room in my tiny SF apartment!

I've been thinking about this alot lately. If money were no object I would get an L shaped tank that was 3 ft tall 7 ft long going one way 11 ft long the other way it would be 3ft front to back with no 90° angles each end would be a semi circle and the middle would be concave with a standing overflow in the back where the two sides meet it would be very open rock work wise for large tangs but still have enough for a nice mixed reef lit by t5 halides and leds for growth and popp

Just going through threads and noticed my post and comment. Just like that- a week from today, My 660g arrives
Dreams DO come true !!

Probably 500-600 gallons in wall with dedicated fish room! Would want 3 separate viewing. Sps dominate with a lot of tangs.

While I could go crazy and say a 20000g reef... I'll keep it realistic. Somewhat.

Id like a room designed around 2 contrasting tanks, one fresh, one salt. A crystal clear 500g reef and a murky 500g Amazon tank with some monster fish.

Nice to see the response mainly of 500 gallons. I always believed Bigger is better but have seen amazing nuvo systems and smaller as well.

My current tank is a 450, so the aspirational tank would have to be much bigger. I’d want something that could comfortably house multiple Naso genus tangs ..... so, 12’ x 6’ x 3’. Nominally 1,600 gallons.

I would love this size! My new one is 10ft X 4’ X 3.5’ tall

My biggest tank ever is the 55g fresh I'm currently running. And my reef is a 10g nano.

I am in the somewhat unhappy place where I am forced to make a decision about replacing my current tank or just tearing it down and taking a break from the hobby. So my dream tank would probably be a tank that will never leak first off. As far as what I would like to do as a replacement, realistically and somewhat of a dream tank, a 4 x 4 x 2 square. Not sure it would be a dream of mine to maintain a tank much bigger than that lol.

Hey, I'm actually going to attempt this once I move...unless my age 'talks' me out of it. Custom 108"x30"x48" in-wall, two low-iron glass viewing panels, huge sump w/built in fuge and frag tank. Moderate level of technology, and lighting would be a combination of MHs and T-5s. Fishroom would a include a couple of mixing tanks, fridge, washer, and abundance of storage space. The viewing room would be able to be closed off from the rest of the house . It would consist of some couches, more storage and have a music system for ambiance.

Always wanted a giant 500+ tank but to be honest I’ve gotten over it. Maybe one day.

Right ow my dream tank is my XXL750 that is in its maturation process. I can’t wait to share it with my wife and daughter who is 7 months old.

While I love a big tank there's something special about nanos... The idea of replicating a piece of something as vast as the ocean in 10g.

Anyway, I love cubes, but a large one would kind of defeat one of the main attractions of a large tank, for me, and that is the ability to stock large fish since there would be a lack of horizontal space. Unless you went with a giant cube.

I restarted with a 32g bio cube and it was a reminder how much I love reef keeping and now a 660g coming home.
No tank in this hobby too big or too small- They're still a dream tank

My never going to happen dream tank would be one I could scuba dive in. And I don't just mean have to dive to place corals in clean the tank, but to actually be able to swim around multiple coral heads and view a large area. Maybe Olympic swimming pool size, but deeper? Or you know just a nice vacation home on the beach in Hawaii I guess in a spot I could shore dive.

My more realistic dream, but would still require a far larger home and probably winning the lottery, would be a very large in wall tank in the living room with a sump room in the basement that takes care of itself fully.

Assuming I won the lottery and had the resources and time, I would love to turn a swimming pool into a snorkeling reef. It is completely unrealistic, and I am sure there would be a laundry list of obstacles but hey, they would be rewarding to overcome.
