Hi all,

Not sure how long its been since we've had a club salt discussion, but I thought I'd ask as I'm trying to figure out what I want to use for my next build. :)

Personally, I've used Instant Ocean, Reef Crystals, and Coralife in the past. I'll probably end up using Reef Crystals for this tank simply because its fairly affordable and if I need it in a pinch, several shops carry it in town.

What are you guys using and how does it affect your dosing, or not?

Brandon

I use Reef Crystals too. It's very easy to find locally as you mentioned, its reliable and mixes very consistent. I've never had any issues with my 2-part dosing with reef crystals, however the day of a WC I do not dose. I usually order from Amazon or Pet Solutions since they both usually have great deals and FAST shipping.

A lot of us run bio pellets and so we like a salt that mixes at a low alk level. So there are a lot of us running red sea regular, not the PRO. It mixes at about 8 dkh instead of 10 and 11 of most other salts, and it mixes super fast and clear.

Awesome. Thanks for the reply, Josh. Do you normally buy the 200g box or a different size? What's the best deal you've seen on it?

Brandon

Interesting on the bio pellets, Chris. I'll keep that in mind.

diamondreef, why did you switch?

Thanks everyone!

Yeah the 200g box is the best way to go. If I need a bucket I'll get the 160 haha. I've seen the 200g on PetSolutions for $49.99. They usually run awesome deals with some percentage off and free shipping. Schooly hooked me up for working on his Apex and now that I'm on a 40 I have salt for days!

One of our local fish stores had it and we asked about it. They use it in the store actually too. Its also not just salt and rarely have to two part anymore bc the salt keeps it where we want it on its own. Its awesome and corals love it.

I just switched to aquacraft bio sea. So far, I'm liking it better than reef crystals which is what I've been using for 2 years. Bio sea mixes in about 30 minutes and leaves no residue like reef crystals.

Im having a problem finding red sea salt. Petsolution went up on there amount $60 instead of $50 and now free shipping is over $75 instead of $50.

Anybody know if there is a store that sells red sea salt cheaper?

+1 Regular Red Sea.
