So after watching @Bulk Reef Supply video and Rico's YouTube video I think its time to change the salt mix I use. When I started the hobby I used IO Reef crystals then upgraded to Red Sea, but my alk kept skyrocketing. I switched to Fritz's RPM but i would get inconsistent batches and after what is potentially going on with Rico tank I think its time to switch salts. I am very intrigued with Tropic Marin does anyone use this salt and would you recommend it?

Whatever matches your Alk,C targets. Were you using RedSeaPro? That has elevated Alk. I use RedSea blue bucket (not pro). It mixes to exactly the Alk and C I run in my tank. Easy Peazy. Results good too. Plenty of good salt mixes out there. Good luck!

I run red sea pro, but before I needed the boost in elements I used red sea blue bucket. I used the tropic marin before. It was good. Mixed cloudy and youd actually see the magnesium sparks when you added the salt to the water when mixing. Bad thing was it always mixed cloudy and I had to wait a day before using. Red sea is clear within 15 min.

i switched to TLF accurasea, because it comes pre-packaged in 5 gallon baggies, and i mix 5 gallons at a time. no more measuring, or messing with buckets that clump together overtime if you don't use it fast enough.

before that i used TM pro reef.

Tropic Marin Pro, HW and Fritz are the best quality salts I have used.
I've heard there were people having issues with Fritz.
I've been using it for almost a year and it's been good for me.

I’ve been using IO reef crystals but after watching the latest BRS idea on consistent mixing of salt from the top to the bottom of a bucket or bag...this one was the worst.

io reef crystals. Every week I shake up bucket. I would imagine any salt not used fast enough would have settling issues. Just my practice.

Heard fritz was very inconsistent with alkalyinity. That's something I personally stay away from. Fritz was around for a long time. If I remember correctly it was fritz and instant ocean back in the late 80s early 90s. Fritz was considered the cheaper of the 2. And about 2 years ago maybe more now they rebadged it and remarketed it. Giving a ton of boxes away for free. I'm happy with the red sea just because its constant. I use the pro and run my alk at about 9.5 the new salt mixes about 12 but when youe doing 10% changed it really doesnt affect it but it definitely adds the right elements. My mag calcium and potassium are always spot on.

Whatever is on sale or the cheapest at the time. I do one 40 gallon change a month on my 160 gallon display tank.

Usually it's Instant Ocean. Never had a problem out of any of them.
