What to do about giant Nem?!

I remember reading that stress causes it to split to enhance the chances of at least part of it surviving.

Yeah I read that too. But a lot of times when they split from stress one of the halves ends up dying.
Plus I can assure you this thing wasn't stressed before it split

IMO It will split on it's own soon. My RBTA got to 14" and then a couple weeks later it split and I had two to worry about. Then the larger of those two split again a couple of months later. I couldn't sell them locally and struggled to give them away. As much as I loved how pretty they were I am done with RBTAs. They multiply like crazy and once they start moving around they can do some serious damage to corals. I am finally down to one small one, that I put in an isolation tank that is part of my system.

Trust me you don't want to wait too long to do something.

Oops, should have read the whole thread before posting. Interesting though because I was feeding mine silversides when it was splitting like crazy. The only one I kept just filter feeds and it is staying small even though it has good color, inflation, etc.

That will be crazy if it splits again.
For right now both are just hanging out under the ledge with the clowns confused on which one to rub on lol

And I know I won't have any problem selling them here

Looks like it did the same thing mine did when it split. Moved into a cave out of the light to split. If it still does the same. One will go back close to were it was. And the other close by but not exact.

Do what will make you happy.

Heavy feedings for a month followed by a large water change can cause it to split. From my experience, if your tank is healthy and clean then they do not seem to split as often as in a tank that has poor water quality.

Here's the link, but the last time I linked to this site it was removed

How to get an anemone to split - Reef Central Online Community

thanks so much for the information!

As of today both halves are doing fine and starting to move around a bit
