What to do about giant Nem?!

Very serious! It's beautiful like a bomb made of diamonds. Dangerous yet beautiful. God forbid if it ever decides to start moving around.

The clowns feed it constantly and T5 lights with ATI bulbs

I think you should split it (you can actually cut them right down the middle; there's a good vid on it here somewhere) and sell half once it's healed up. Once it heals you can split it again, and you have the size you started with, if you want. XD

Sell to someone and ask for first split off... or just get another one lol. That thing is to beautiful to be cut

Thanks Eric, it took FOREVER to construct and make stay. Me and my friend both had broken backs by the end of the day

I'm really contemplating cutting it but idk if I could do it while it was on the rock, and if I did the sides would likely start moving around.
Sounds really risky

Instead of cutting it why not encourage it to split. I have no experience with it, but from what I understand there are ways to encourage them to split naturally.

Do not cut it while it's on the rock.

don't cut it imo as you don't want to risk damaging and or killing it....sell it or let it be as it is too beautiful.

That may be what I do, may trade it for a nice rainbow one that's smaller.
I guess I'll start looking around.

I got two really nice small ones. Lol

Do what will make you happy.

Oh nice!
And guess what. Last night it decided to start moving!
I guess I jinxed myself talking about it.

I'd be interested to read how one encourages a nem to split?? anyone know where to get more information on this?

I'm not sure as well on making them split. I always thought to feed it more and that will do it. But i hear people say they feed to help keep it from splitting.

**** man im sorry she moved on you. Yea my eel did that to me. I was talking about getting rid of him because i never see him. Had him for 4 yrs. he would always stay in his tube. Then 2 days after i said that he started to swim around in my tank and on my rocks showing off.

Well the debate can officially come to a close. I just got home from work and I now have TWO nems in my tank.

I did absolutely nothing to the tank to make it split or keep it from splitting.
Now my tank looks weird without it's center piece.

Now I get to try to get one to move back where it was and get the other out

Heavy feedings for a month followed by a large water change can cause it to split. From my experience, if your tank is healthy and clean then they do not seem to split as often as in a tank that has poor water quality.

Here's the link, but the last time I linked to this site it was removed

If that's the case, then I think I caused it to split.
It had been looking blah last month so I started feeding it pieces of shrimp every other day. And then three or four days ago I did my first water change in three months.
Soo yeah... May have caused it on accident

I have heard about feeding them big chunks of stuff like silversides daily will cause them to split. I wanted to find more evidence than just being told and that's why I linked.

Either way, mission accomplished
