I thought this might be a fun topic to bring up in order for people to share their experiences. I for one just had one occur yesterday that I thought might be funny to share with everyone. I had been having issues with my RO/DI unit and decided to call BRS to get to the source of the issue. They were a great help and concluded that my RO membrane was probably faulty to begin with and sent me a new one free of charge! I got it in the mail and followed the directions and opened the cap to the RO membrane container...and discovered that I had forgot to install the original membrane that came with my upgrade kit.. No wonder I was getting horrible TDS readings. Looking forward to hearing others big mistakes.

after subtly bragging how I added mass to this stn frag from the pet store I bought, I then decided my tank could use a healthy boost of alk along with my excellent feed and burned off the bottom mass id just bragged about adding along w some others corals. a setback of three mos mass, sps humility.

I have been dosing nitrates to keep them around 3-4ppm according to my test kit. I had someone else check my water because stuff hasn't been looking very good. The test kit I had was faulty and was off by at least 10 times the amount. My nitrate was really 50+.

My bank account would say getting into this hobby... and the 5 other expensive hobbies I have  Oh well... life is good :D

My last big mistake with this hobby was probably getting a six-line wrasse... he is still in my tank, but he puts the wrasse in ha-wrasse. Definitely the most aggressive fish I have in the tank.

Trying to fill my Neptune feeder while it was over the tank. I popped out the feeder container and all the food that was in it (it was still half full) spilled into the tank. I did this in the evening before I was leaving on a week long trip. Was up all night mixing saltwater and trying to suction all the food out and do a water change. The fish were happy though because for a few hours it was a constant smorgasbord. Fortunately I got it all taken care of, went on my trip and nothing bad happened because of it. It was pretty stressful though and I worried the whole time I was on my trip.

Getting involved in something that is more addicting than Beer, Wine, Burgers, going to movies, more Wine, Baseball games, riding my bicycle, the beach house, more beer, my freshwater addiction, fishing, mowing my lawn, American Idol but I still go every year to the ACM awards in Nashville, I'm sure I forgot another hundred things but you got the picture :p

After being out of the hobby for 2 years or so after the bottom of my 75 gal tank gave out I went and got a 125 gal...

Yup. What a money sink.

This was a long time ago but I'd have to say not testing magnesium ..... Never tested it never added it.
