As a union rep, who is going through the slow opening salvo of contract negotiations in his own line of employment, hopefully the rank & file Teamsters get 100% of what they are seeking.For what it's worth my UPS guy who I know pretty well having worked part time with him for a few years does not think there will be a strike. thinks to company will offer 95% of what the union wants, and the workers will ratify the new contract.
In reality what you said will more than likely happen, the company will focus on the 'economic side of the contract' when a TA is pushed out, sadly the union will look @ the dollar signs as well
Folks tend to see $$$$ and run with it, but from my experience the devil is ALWAYS in the details. Usually some contract verbiage is missed and the company will always get some small wins somewhere, which all add up.
