The last time was 1997, no...?This is not the first time UPS went on strike. I work in logistics and the last time UPS went on strike, FedEx was overwhelmed and could not accommodate the volume. People started resorting to Southwest Airlines. It will be an overloaded mess for a while.
I had just started with TWA when the last UPS strike hit, the sheer volume of priority parcels we shipped on our metal (aircraft) overnight from city to city was insane. Companies would literally buy a PMC (flat pallet) or a LD3/5/8 and stuff it to the gills or sublet the can to get critical stuff moved. This is not the first time UPS went on strike. I work in logistics and the last time UPS went on strike, FedEx was overwhelmed and could not accommodate the volume. People started resorting to Southwest Airlines.
