What worked for your aiptasia?

4 peppermints from LFS, 3 days later no aptasia, sold back 2 peppermint and kept 2 for future control. Six months later I only have 1 aptasia, unfortunately I think the shrimp have grown accustomed to other food now

Fire and lots of it. Since my 120g was broken down, I got to soak my rock in peroxide solution for a few days.... Outside of that it was a mixed bag between peppermint shrimp (meh) Klein butterfly (didn't work), aiptasia x (did work), glue (didn't work) and kalk paste (worked but a pain to apply).

I have had good success with a file fish, they tend to want to chomp on corals if not well fed when the aiptasia runs out. Kept it on loan for about 5 weeks and passed it on to another reefer.

Leave it barren.
Groups of Peppermint shrimp work. If you can afford it buy all of them at the lfs. Groups of 5+ and add them around the area infested.
Should be gone next day.

The filefish does work, long as you have a plan to deal with it after the aiptasia is gone... I yanked it out quickly....

Low key solution, berghia nudibranches work if your existing stock won't decimate them.

3M solution of Sodium Hydroxide into their mouth fixes them right up.

It is Aiptasia X but much stronger.

I should probably clarify.

A 3M solution is basically 12 g of food grade NaOH mixed into 100ml of water.

It is important to use food grade, which is used to make soap.

It is quite dangerous and you should be wearing PPE, gloves and eye protection as minimum while mixing. You can also add 6g Calcium Chloride so that it is a milky solution.

It will harm coral if it hits them, so use a turkey baster to blow away any errant drops. Fish seem to know to avoid it.

It will nuke Aiptasia, been using it for years.

Aiptasia X is the same chemically, just a weaker solution.

Yes. Its best to catch the filefish when the lights just are coming on or we'll he is in "sleep" mode and hanging on to something like a monkey. Lol

Nah, it's shared pain my man... Also BTDT. My wrasses crushed the 1/2 dozen peppermint shrimp I put in. All dead within 72 hours.

F-Aiptasia is my go to. Just gotta make sure you glob it on and let it sit before you turn your power head on lol. The pics attached are from earlier, had no idea why my torches were so angry and then it showed it's ugly little head. It's gonezo now

How does that work for surrounding coral ??? Sodium hydroxide is lye . Seems highly caustic.

Makes a shell of presumably magnesium hydroxide. I’ve treated whole rocks covered in bryopsis with it successfully.

2 ways worked for me. Peppermints decimates them and when I saw one or 2 reef putty and completely covered them. Had a file fish that ate them and half my corals. Aptasia x only caused them to spread

Any boiling water that you suck up into a syringe will be lukewarm by the time you get it to the target. Assuming you get it to the target hot any living tissue that is left will regenerate multiply your problem 10 fold.

No true! @Tamberav's method really does work. I did end up carrying around a tea cattle which was my reservoir, and this does require a little dexterity, but you can do it.

This is certainly worth a read: it suggests that we all might benefit from introucing a winter photoperiod to curb reproduction.

Tried a filefish.

It ate $1000 worth of scolly's overnight and didn't look at the aiptasia.

Also have a clam, LPS and SPS. Berghia at .75 inch. They’ve laid 5 egg spirals so far, don’t know what will happen there but I’ll find out. They started eating quickly, faster than the .50 inch ones. I only saw 2 of that size after putting in 10. Five each in first two orders. Then I saw the .75 inch and went for it, I added five. They cleaned off astapia on the clam scutes also, it’s a Mimosa. Most importantly there’s not a fish that will eat the Berghia. I also just found the bristleworm breeding hide outs before putting in the .75 inch and haven’t seen one of those worms since. Working great so far.

Keep it simple:
Using syringe, inject either lemon juice or better yet. . kalkwasser powder mixed with tank water into a paste the consistency of toothpaste and inject into the very center core and it will melt away

Amazingly - i also has some success (limited) with warm lemon juice. But then the mrs was cooking one day and didnt have lemon juice… that ended quickly.
