Are you possibly running gfo and sucking too much phosphate out in relation to nitrates? Are you carbon dosing and if so how much vs total water volume? It's telling you something's is wrongyou think that's strange I got a BTA and he looked like your first pic but then I added a kessil light to my setup and my bta moved up to top of the glass on back of the tank, then I couldn't find him for a week n thought he must have died or got eaten, but next day I was changing my gfo in my HOB filter and was rinsing the bag under cold tap water and he fell out of the end of the bag where it ties together, so I quickly put him back in the tank on a rock and now 2 months later hes been under a rock with zero light and is about the size of a pencil eraser and has been for 2 months now. so small I cant even get a pic of him., he used to be big and really colorful , what the heck is his problem? I must have gotten a dud BTA lol
