I wouldn't call LED a craze at this point. If anything I'd say it's the current standard.

Talking about lighting is like discussing religion and politics....one I will stay out of. You call it current standards, I will it a craze b/c it changes so rapidly and people sink hundreds of dollars into these fixtures and then the next iteration comes out and they dump them on the FS forums and continue to chase the next best LED configuration, etc. That's all I was trying to get at.

In any event, I have been and will continue to be a MH hobbyist.

Reefbuilders has an interesting article on micro LEDs, I sure hope they come to the hobby and are the next big thing. Imagine something like a 1/4" thick sheet over the entire top of the tank providing uniform light with thousands of mico LEDs.

FWIW

LEDs were already the "status quo" when I got into this hobby. And in the short two years since then, I feel that there has been a shift toward the LED/T5 Hybrid (I'm a sucker and retrofitted my LEDs with T5 ). I think we can all agree here that the only constant regarding lighting in this hobby is change.

I downloaded the article to read later and I'm very interested. Could you imagine something that doubled as a screen top and lighting? Oh man, I hope this happens. If for nothing else, just for the sake of how cool it is

Well we already have the KH Guardian, but a "Ca Guardian" would be sweet! I petition that BRS come up with a "2 Part Guardian"! @randyBRS
