Just waiting for the price of the Guardian to go down! I am kind of a gear junky (whether I like to admit it or not) and would spend a pretty penny on something like this if Neptune came out with one *ahem* @TerenceOn the hardware side of things, I think automated dKH testing/dosing will be huge for SPS tanks.

I am uneducated in this. How would it work and are you planning on making a build thread?I'm trying to convince myself to buy an Arduino and a CO2 sensor and make a probe to calculate dKH using disolved CO2, pH, and Temperature.
It should cost less than $100 for the CO2 hardware and I already have the other two probes connected to my controller.
Reagent-less, real time dKH monitoring would be awesome.

There's a mathematical relationship between the four parameters - dKH, temperature, CO2 and pH. If you know three (e.g. CO2, Temp and pH) you can calculate the 4th.
If I decide to try and build it I'll make a build thread for sure. Should be easy to verify if it works since you can just test your alkalinity and compare your calculated number to your tested number.

It links to a sensor that has a detectable range from 0-10,000 ppm. All sensors I found on Amazon were 400-10,000. Typically home CO2 levels should be less than 400ppm, so assuming Henry's gas law comes into play in our home environment the typical reef tank might be in that range as well.

Ok well any info or articles you have would be greatThe formula assumes the sample is 77F. I read elsewhere that you need to adjust based on the temp, but I can't find where that was at the moment.
