What's the best doser

With GHL doser it is easy to add an other pump to the unit. So if money is tight buy what you need.

I see all this stuff about doseing an ask myself is this really necessary? Can I have a good thriving reef without all the additives? New to corals so just wondering.

Depends on the corals you have and the salt you use. Typically coral require supplements. You may not need them right away. As the tank ages and the coral grow into larger colonies, more nutrients will be absorbed. Otherwise you can get away with water changes. I was able to get away without dosing, with hardy low demanding coral for a year with weekly water changes. Then growth took off and out came the 2 part dosing.

What would I look into doseing?
That depends on the deficiency. We maintain our parameters and check to see if anything is dropping. For example Calcium and Alkalinity together make up calcium carbonate or the building block for stony coral. If you have stony coral or coralline algae or snails, chances are they are absorbing your calcium and alkalinity. In new systems we don't usually have the mass amounts of livestock using up resources. Water changes can help replenish the small amounts used.

That said, salt mix parameters might require additional dosings if a parameter is lacking what you need. If you want to space your water changes out, other important things to dose might be magnesium, trace elements, strontium, and iodine.

If your system is low on NO3(nitrates) and PO4(phosphates) you might need to feed more, add more fish, or dose amino acids.

I have not heard one person talk about the vertex dosers. I dont have one and im actually set on purchasing the GHL but im just curious how they are and if people like them or not. I have a vertex skimmer and its top notch so i would have to imagine the doser is as well. The biggest complaint has to be the pricing. They sure are $$$.

And add neptune on the list of dosers not talked about. I hear they are really loud.

Regarding the GHL doser, anyone has a link to the model that can be set up and controlled by a phone??

I use the Neptune DOS for my 2 part. Great system and great to see it intertwine with the apex on its dash. Only wish it had an option to run a 3rd pump for if I ever wanted to add something else

Eshopps master dosing pump work great and good price

@Pola0502ds IMO, the GHL Doser 2 is as good as it gets. They are accurate, built well, silent running, cloud accessible, and include more features than the competition. There are only two versions of the doser, Standalone and Slave. The SA version is the one to buy if you don't already have a Doser 2. The slave units are for connecting to a SA Doser 2 unit or Profilux controller.

I have two Red Sea reefer (250 and the nano). The 250 I'm using an eshoppes doser and the nano has no doser. So what I want to do is switch the eshoppe doser to the nano tank and buy a new doser for the RedSea reefer 250. So the question is what is the best doser to buy? Also which one is the easiest to use?

+1 for Jebao (from Frag Freaks)

For what it is, I've been really happy with my Kamoer 3-channel dosing pump; it's not fancy like the GHL but a really good dosing pump IMO.

I would take a kore 5th any day over a GHL. Magnetic stiring by far the most advanced doser on the maket.

Nice to see they added it but I'd still take a kore for the price and function. I've delt with pacific sun before and they are hands down the best company I've ever worked with their support even blows ecotech marine out of the water. The company is growing and it's products are all top tier. The kore 5th is developing into a full blown tank controller and from an asthetic prospective it just looks far more attractive. To each his own but if someone is looking for the best it's definitely one to consider not only GHL.

Wow , those screen shots look great.

No way. I've dealt with both for a couple things here and there including hardware problems, the score is:
Ecotech said 'that's how it works' referring to the change of the lights when you change the points on the graph in ecosmartlive.
PacSun said 'we'll make you a special firmware' referring to an uneven amount of dosing that can happen between the heads. Then I never heard from them again. It didn't make sense either. They wanted you to use head 4 and 5 for water changes, but then nerfed the max dosage for 2 thru 5 heads. lol..

I'll say each company has their strengths, but in general, that statement was not what I experienced. That's even removing all the interaction from PacSun's first US retailer. PacSun USA was horrid to the point I stuff the unit in the closet for 2 years and went about my business and bought all new hardware from some other brands.
