Common name is a finger leather or Devils hand.

They drop arms to reproduce when large but one that size shouldn't be dropping pieces. Can you post a full list of water parameters? How long has the tank been set up? What lighting?

Examine the leather closely for nudibranches. Also, what type of flow and lighting? What livestock?

I would guess that it is getting ready to shed a wax coating. Put it in more indirect current and see if that helps it to shed its wax. It looks healthy from the pick.

Is that normal for it to be fine then shrink up for several days?

Very normal... Sometimes for as long as a week and a half in my experience.

Ok I noticed it popped out a few polyps. My calcium was, still 360 so I added another cap of code a

Leathers can generally tolerate lower calcium levels, so I wouldn't think that was what caused your leather to close up.

Ok. I had a issue with a Kenya tree branch I read they can poison other corals but nothing else has acted weird

And I just, added 9 more frags today :-( probably too much, at one time but for $55 I couldn't pass it all up

You should be ok, I would just keep a close eye on things and be patient.

I will. While I got someone here lol. I added a second piece of cabbage that want attached to anything and most of it went between two rocks and doesn't have light except on top of it. Will that be ok or, should I move it back into the light

And I also got another xenia my first one is kinda peach colored and the fingers are longer
The new one is grey looking and has shorter fingers but the frag is smaller than the first one are they the same or ate they different kinds?

The two pics look like the same species, but hard to tell. And I would get the cabbage back int the light.

I was just wondering cause one looks grey.

I moved the leather now,I don't know, where to put it lol. I want to be able to frag it when it gets bigger and all my rocks are kinda big and supporting each other any ideas

One pic looks deflated the other looks fully inflated which makes one look darker. Leathers can be held onto a rock by tying the base to a rock with monofilament. You can even use a large sewing needle to insert the monofilament through part of the coral. Sounds invasive, but it works.

Mine didn't have a base so, to speak he just chopped off a "ear"
White thread work?

Sent from my SCH-S720C using Reef2Reef Aquarium Forum mobile app

Thread will probably work, just may break easily on the rock. I use 2lb test monofilament.

how, long can I leave it loose. I have to figure out where I want it until them can I set it loose on my frag rack?
