I have a purple tang that I bought in 2005ish. maybe 2004.

Clowns do seem to hold the longevity records. In my tank I’ve a number of fish that I acquired in a tank breakdown in early 2013. So, seven years under my care. Prior reefer claimed he had most for five years. So some of them are now pushing 12-13 years. Both tangs and clown pair look fine. Trio of PJ cardinals look a little worse for wear .... though they’ve been looking that way for a few years now.

Mine are still really young compared to most (haven't been in the hobby more than 3 years though). This guy will be 3 years in my tanks in July:

I have an Ocellaris Clown that I purchased in the fall of 2000. It is over 21 years old.

I’m my 18” cube, my oldest is a 2 year old Stonogobiops yasha and in my 4’ my oldest is a 2 year old Siganus Magnificus followed by a 2 year old CBB.

My oldest were a 12 year old pair of ocellaris and a 12 year old pajama cardinalfish. Those fish survived 3 tank resets, 2 velvet outbreaks, more ich outbreaks than I can count (I was a 10 yr old kid at the time, and my dad and I were following fish store advice). Once I got old enough and started maintaining the tank on my own all the time (14-15 yrs old) they got much better care, and the disease outbreaks stopped. Ended up giving them to a friend when I tore their tank down in 2013, and as far as I know he had them for at least another 3 years or so before he tore his tank down. No idea what happened to them after that. In freshwater, I had a blood parrot and a raphael catfish make it 17 years, and a black skirt tetra made it 14 years.

Currently the oldest fish. 20 year old female GSM, 15 year old GSM, 12 year old dwarf Hawaiian moray eel, 10 year old emperor.

The fireclown behind the Hippo is about 28. His mate is maybe 20
Actually I made a mistake, I was looking through old pictures and I think my fireclown is closer to 35 or maybe even 40. I have to look in my log book to see if I wrote it down because I used to keep a log then.

Depends on what you call large angels. I had one Chaetodontoplus caeruleopunctatus grow from about 3" into a very nice fat 8" male (presumably) I've had a chrysurus angelfish for 15 years that I purchased as an adult at about 6". Never grew past 7" but was very wide. During those 15 years I bought that emperor as a juvi and it outgrew the chrysurus.

Jay Hemdal I believe did a study or measurements of captive growth rate and seemed to indicate that fish reach 80% of their potential size in the wild.

my midas blenny and 2 firefish gobies. bought all 3 the same day.

A 13 yo blue velvet damsel that's a tank wrecking ball... he's survived 2 houses 4 tank moves and a 12 month army deployment where he was left in the care of someone that didn't know how to take care of fish. I'm honestly amazed he's still alive... he's had a hard life lol. But now he's in a healthy tank with good water. Was only a dime size baby when we got him back then. Now he's a fat pig. But he owns the tank... he's so destructive and constantly throwing sand around that I can't really keep much else in there with him. He's working on killing a couple zoah frags with sand currently... so I've given up trying to keep anything in there other than him, and algae blenny and some snalls. Im going to setup some new tanks for my own stuff now that I'm getting back into the hobby. He gets to keep his tank to himself as his final retirement home lol. I was going to give him to the lfs. But the wife won't let me since we bought him right when we started dating.

Saltwater... a 7 year old percula. Freshwater... I have two clown loaches that I bought 22 years ago.
