Who's got paletta pink tip??

One of my favorites.........I originally bought a frag back in 2005. I grew it into a 12" colony re-started with a 2" frag and grew it out again......I've split it a couple of times. Funny story on the name........Mike Paletta didn't have this coral in his tank for years. About 2-3 years ago my friend Dan gave him a frag of mine at one of our swaps.

When it's really doing well the pink can extend down the tips a good 1- 1.5"

This is the original frag from 2005. The frag will turn all green and look turdish while it's basing but all the new sprouts are when the pink starts to show, so if your frag looks ugly that's normal and I've seen it base in some tanks for months.............don't give up on it, it will reward you in time.

I'll be happy if my ugly duckling can look half as good as yours one day.

Recently got a snip from world wide corals called "CB pink tip". Don't know if it's same or different than paletta's.

How about this Mother Colony in our 500 Gallon

CB Pink Tip Acropora

Interesting! I got the same piece from WWC as a freebie from their live sale and the tip of it was a little damaged too! But it has healed up well. The CB Pink Tip is different but looks pretty similar in my opinion! Still an awesome looking colony!

I have a paletta pink tip but the pink tip vanished after a few months. Now it is just a turd and so slow to grow. Hope to see the pink tip come back. Will take a pic soon.

Same here. Love this coral. I have had a frag for about a month now and it's just sitting there looking kinda turdy right now, can't wait for it to start doing something

That is one of those corals that I have always struggled to keep.....they seem overly sensitive to LEDs...at least in my case. The previous two frags I kept slowly just bleached out. My current frag is at least encrusting but the colors are still pretty pastel. It has only been in the tank for a couple of months though. Has anybody had success keeping them with LEDs?

picked up a piece April of last year.

a year later it finally started going vertical with a couple of pink tips

Looks similar but I wouldn’t call it Paletta Pink Tip unless I had lineage. Super cool looking piece! Great job on growing that bad boy out.

Once it looked like a turd but now a beauty.
After 10 months it has grown a lot and colored a lot. Happy with it
