Why aren't stags more popular?

I love stags, got a few fresh cut frags few months ago and they been great, colour is really intense just started encrusting so hopefully see some top growth soon.

IMO, stags doesn't look good on shallow tank. 30" and higher looks amazing with stags stretching high for the lights.

I love them!... but for some reason it is a SPS coral that hates me... they never make it :-(

Too much eye candy on this thread! Nice colonies everyone.

I'm in the process of building a 90g shallow (36x36x16) and will have stags and tables mostly. To me stags look great in any tank, no matter what depth. It's all about creating contrast, plus, stags are great! :D

This thread needs a bump and new pics! There are so many out there this thread should be packed. They are my new favorite acropora right now. A table will look good no matter how you grow it, a stag you have to have everything just right or they don't look good, thin branches, twine like growth, growing to one side or two spaced out are all things that make them look funny. But when they are grown right are statement pieces.
I picked up a blue voodoo from a friend and never realized it was a staghorn! Does anyone know what type of acropora it might be?
The bubble bath unicorn I always thought was nothing like a stag, anyone grow it out yet?

My favorites would be any of the red staghorns mostly labeled rainbows... Any solid blue staghorn, blue tipped slimer, stubers staghorn, and any staghorn that has very small or sharp coralites. Oh and any abrotranoides but I just never see healthy ones in many people's tanks and they take so long to grow.

Hmmm can post through Tapatalk but not through reef2reefs app.

sorry for the bad picture.

That is simply awesome. Go slimer forest!

My answer to the original question is ... they grow too fast, take up too much space, and I dislike cutting my corals. I cut out most of the slimer to make room for other stags.

Staghorn likes are: Slimer, Miami Orchid, unnamed blue stag, unnamed green with blue tips stag, unnamed wild horrida.

Does anybody have the (hope someone will recognize this vendor name so I am not the only one feeling old), reefermadness rainbow stag that came in as wilds about 15 years ago. It was one of my favorites, but sold off mine 12 years ago with my tank and it was then lost. I would love to see a pic of one that is still growing.
