Why I love my Metal Halide

That is the key question, folks that just get their feet wet in reefing don't realize where the hobby has been. LED is the future, but it will be by those who have no desire to go back to tried and true methods. The techy kids will figure out less, not me.
True

BTW I'm using led now and have been ramping them up for a year. Hard to balance between bleaching and happiness
Pfish sounds like you have a sense of humor lol I'm going to tell u something wild lol I have a 40 b down stairs I set up a 110 g system 75 dt in my foyer I added ammonia started the cycle about 2 wks my external over flow messed up so I put the water in brutes and the sand in a trash can to which had water and was moist. I ordered a h20 overflow it took a week to get and 2 wks before I got it drilled and installed lol I put the sand back in and the water dang thing cycled and cured in the brutes lol sweet.

@RedneckReefer68, got a little distracted from your original intent, very sorry. I do love the overall look of MH. Though I'm using LED I destroy everything that's not hard and full of small polyps.

How long you been doing this.
You disagree? You don't think LEDs are the future? I could sell a hundred led fixtures at pretty crazy prices tomorrow all over my local reefing community.. Yet can't hardly find someone to take this awesome 250w x2 Luminarc reflectiors and massive pfo ballast.. And it's not because MH is the future!

@jetmaker, I think you over estimated the seriousness of my post. No doubt you have forgotten more things about reef keeping then I have learned! Perhaps in 24 + or - years when my experience meter is full we can debate which lighting option once and for all is superior. Until then, +1 MH

Lol

I always see all this talk of experience, what works, what doesn't.. but never tank shots.. The op had a great example of why he had better luck with halides.. I applaud him for that.. But just talk of 24+years with no diseases means mh is better? I don't even know what that's supposed to mean? And just because you're stuck in your way that you've done it for 24 years doesn't prove its better.

I loved having dual MH on my tank... Can't beat the shimmer, but you also can't beat the price of running led instead.
