It is not a literal thing, they do not physically change. Under certain spectrums the color that reflects back, the one you see is more orange.

Yes they do physically change due to regulations of chromoproteins and photopigments.

Yeah, and it's definitely in response to something. I'm hoping someone will know what that something is. I'm nearly certain it's not just because LEDs are LEDs. There are quite a few farms and such that have switched to LEDs, especially Radions it seems, without any apparent ill effect.

Do you guys suppose orange is the Acan version of browned out?

The Dana riddle video from macna is the best video I know of in regards to this topic. The actual light source shouldn't matter (at least it shouldn't rationally, given how some stand on the topic)

That's actually what brought me here to ask this question XD I figured if anybody knew, or could figure it out, it was probably him.

I don't think so. I've seen favia go brown and come back. When saying its an LED thing it could be from not running enough white light... like a 2 channel led fixture at 100 blue and 1 white. Thats a lot of blue. You could ask D Riddle if he has any more thoughts on it.

Do you think it would be okay to try contacting him directly? I'm sure he's busy...

Never hurts to try. I've contacted him a few times over the years he didn't seem to mind. Just direct him to this thread.

I used to run heavy blue with LED and was able to turn a rainbow lord almost completely orange in about a years time... Switched to straight T5 last few months and its color is coming back.
Question, when you switched lights, did you change tanks or dosing trace elements? I'm learning that having too much of certain traces can change coral color, and in the case I heard specifically to red.

Only things I dose are alk,cal,mag,phos.. use instant ocean salt. Lights were the only change.I was using viparspectra 2 channel lights. I will say that since switching back to t5 on my 180g the coraline algea exploded with growth, So maybe my par meter was not able to read the blue light correctly and lights were giving way more par than I thought.. problem with that is I'm running 100 more par with the t5 according to same meter.
