Will this turn my corals orange?

Hm. :( Acans are one of the big ones I've wanted to keep. I do notice that WWC uses Orpheks...maybe those would work?
I supplement Red Sea Reef LED 90s with orphek bars and they are VERY blue. I call it full Windex mode when they are on. No shimmer from the LED bars, but Lots of blue for color pop.

Have you checked out reef breeder photons? They are extremely versatile lights, provide little shading due to the spread and work well across all power bands. I've run them as low as 50 PAR and as high as 350.

I prefer a bit more daylight, but I could compromise if it keeps the corals looking good.

I have not, I'll check those out, thanks!

Oof, $850's a lot for me. But hey, if it does what I need it to do...
I may start with the cheap one, see how it goes, and try to save some in case it causes problems and I need to switch.

Come to think of it, my reef tanks run the David Saxby program for Aqua Illumination, why has plenty of daylight during the day. You could pick up some AI 28HD's for cheap (the ones on my 40g, 2 for $150) later you can upgrade the lighting pucks to

I'm definitely going to have to look into used lights. I wish I could just say screw it and go with T5s, but besides paying frequently for bulb replacements, I don't know how much longer T5s will be available...meaning I'll end up having to buy another light anyway.

I feel like the turning red/orange probably has more to do with the spectrum than simply being an LED. Otherwise, we'd be hearing about the issues from all the coral farms that use LEDs. If I had the budget, I'd experiment and figure it out.

There is a lot of stuff here in the classifieds, but in my area Offerup is also a good resource.
I'm gonna have to wait a couple months XD Someone very generous is selling me a tank I couldn't normally afford, but that does mean my spending money's all spoken for at the moment.

Soooo I saw the ReefBreeders on a BRSTV and I hate it. I've fallen hard for the Radion G6 and my wallet is sobbing. XD Boy oh boy...but at least I can be relatively sure it won't turn things red. Wish I could take advantage of the BRS sale on the G5s...but that's life.

I don't want this build to take two years...need to go cheaper...@_@

If there are any left the Radian G5s were 25% off

My red acans turned orange during their QT of 45 days under freshwater lights. Was putting out about 80 PAR and medium flow. Just moved them to my DT under radions at 80 PAR but much bluer and lower flow. We’ll see if they change back.

Could you please let me know the results? I'd appreciate it very much.

Do you guys think maybe the orange-ing corals may simply be getting overlit?

Question, what PAR were they under using the FW light?

About the same, between 80-90. Much whiter spectrum though. 75% cool white lights and 25% cyan lights. It’s just what I have available, definitely not ideal.

8000-10000k depending on whites.. and driver power distribution.
