@Reef-junky So far so good! I just now got the system running. My return pump did not want to prime but I finally got it going. I am scared to death but everything is running and not leaking!!

The pump sounds like a commercial refrigerator but other than that it's great. I'll need a foam mat for it. System is running on about 180-190g right now :)

Hold on the input of the pump is going up. No wonder you couldn’t get it primed. I wouldn’t trust that set up to reprime it self. It may not even stay primed but I doubt that will be a problem. I would lower the pump down so your not trying to suck water up. That’s really the wrong kind a pump for the way you have it set up. That pump isn’t meant to self prime. I would drill the tank and put a bulkhead on it.

The pumps work just fine when operated correctly lol, I had to mess with my gate valve to finally to get it. I may end up drilling soon as it sure would stay primed then. We shall see, for now it works

The problem is if the power goes out the pump is probably not going to reprime it’s self. Your pump will be running dry and could burn up. Another problem is if for some reason the vacuum of the input of the pump is partially lost it will probably lose prime.
 
Yeah, I wish I'd have foreseen that earlier lol. Looks like I'm drilling or redoing a sump

Really hope my glass isn't tempered which apparently there is a really good chance that it is. Not sure what I'll do if so. Might have to rethink my options

My guess is when you opened the valve it back flowed into the pump and was able to catch prime. If the pipe was completely dry it probably wouldn’t have been able to pull enough vacuum to prime it self.
 
If you can’t drill the tank I guess you could try a HOB overflow into a plastic tub and put a bulkhead or uniseal on that. You could possibly try a hub filter not sure if you could get it to sit backwards. If you decide to try a HOB overflow I have one I can give you possibly. I can’t find the inside box right now but I can dig for it. Worse case you just buy an inside box.

I have some polarized glasses showing up today so we will see. Unfortunately I don't think a hob would work where the water level is. I may try lowering the pump as far as I can but like you said that probably won't be reliable to re prime. If all else fails, on to a new sump I guess
 
You would have to run the water high in the last chamber in order to use a HOB overflow.
 
Looks like some great progress so far guys! Is it a standard 75?

Pretty sure those external pumps are the only ones that will hold up over time for all that head pressure. I plan on using same brand pump. It would be nice if if he could run in internal one.
