You know its gonna be bad when.....

When you are sitting on the couch next to your peninsula 200g system, the night before vacation, and your return pump stops working for no apparent reason.

So you take apart the Vectra L1, soak it in a bucket of 100% white vinegar for a few and then scrub as much condensation off as you can. Then leave for a week with an Apex not connected Ron fusion.

Everything worked out, no clue what it was but some good guesses. Glad I had TWO containers of vinegar for sure. Also convinced me to hard wire the internet to the Apex. Cable guy gets here Friday.

Plan for the worst.

I can still see the whole episode in slow motion in my mind and also the look on my ex's face as she just sat there and watched me jump up and deal with it. one of those defining moments in that marriage............

When I make a purchase of coral or fish they put the item in one of those white take out bags, when I get Home i put the item in my tank and then put the bag in a plastic bag holder that we got from Ikea, my wife must know how many bags are in there at any given time, because she asks me so what did you buy this time?

It's 5:30 am. You and the two kids are getting into the car to go catch a flight to grandma's house for two weeks. As you climb in the car, Apex texts you that the temperature is high in your 100 gallon aquarium. You go in and see that the hose to the chiller has come lose and the pump has pumped all the water from the sump onto the floor and the pump is running dry now. You need to fix the hose, make saltwater, fill the sump and tank back up, yet still catch that flight in 90 minutes! You look behind you at the kids who followed you back into the house and see their faces that say it all, "You are so f***ed!"

It's beyond a bad day!
I don't think anybody can top this one, I felt the pain just thinking about this, I'm sorry.

When you come home from work and find your beautiful bride wiping down your tank spritzing Windex on it. [emoji20] First tank true story[emoji20]

#nightmares

When you wake up to a bad smell and your tank looks like milk:confused: Shoulda drank the vodka instead of dosing it:rolleyes:

No sweetheart that's not a new coral:D
Almost did some accidental vodka dosing a few times....my qt tank is actually in the hubby's bar area. Nothing like making myself a little cocktail while Im making the fish their cocktail [emoji12]

When I first started in the hobby I was unaware how fast water weight added up and put a 29g tank on a old bookshelf. Filled up the tank about a third of the way, turned around to go get more water and heard it straight hit the ground. Broke the tank in a ton of pieces, sand everywhere, and a broken bookshelf. Oops

I feel your guys pain on overflowing ro/di systems. Did that a few times with 5gal buckets finally moved the buckets to inside the tub to contain my mess. Now ive upgraded from 5 gal buckets to a 32gal brute can. Not overflowed it yet but came close.

Coming home after 3 days honey-moon. Open the garage door and after 5 inch opening you feel that smell that tell's you immediately your breaker tripped three days ago and you still don't have an APEX.

Not to mention the amount of wasted on the floor RODI, not to mention the price of corals and equipments, not to mention when wife sees the energy bill, not to mention coming the next day to lost fish, not to mention AEFW, not to mention Dictyota, not to mention aptaisa, not to mention broken SUMP, not to mention ...

Ohhh man ... I must be really stubborn to still love this hobby.

Go out of town for a 3 week work trip, ask my wife how the tank looks she says everything looks good but the corals look lighter then normal but the lights weren't on yet so she couldn't tell. I walk in the door and turn to look at the tank, everything is covered by cyano, I ask my wife how long it had been going on she says almost your whole trip. Skimmer pump went bad and tripped the gfci plug that it and the biopellets were on. She explained that when she said everything looked pale it was because she couldn't see past all the red stuff haha. This made for a bad couple of days in a row.

When you go to Hawaii and leave your mother in charge of the tank. Get a call as you land saying something is wrong and the pumps are spraying water everywhere. Talk her through every scenario and get it all back working so you think. Come home after 8 days to find your chiller hooked up to the heater module and no ca rx running. She mixed up the pluggins on the apex.

Labels are now my friend.
