When you wake up in the morning to look in your tank to say hello and see an aptasia![]()
It's 5:30 am. You and the two kids are getting into the car to go catch a flight to grandma's house for two weeks. As you climb in the car, Apex texts you that the temperature is high in your 100 gallon aquarium. You go in and see that the hose to the chiller has come lose and the pump has pumped all the water from the sump onto the floor and the pump is running dry now. You need to fix the hose, make saltwater, fill the sump and tank back up, yet still catch that flight in 90 minutes! You look behind you at the kids who followed you back into the house and see their faces that say it all, "You are so f***ed!"
It's beyond a bad day!

Can't say I have ever seen Aptasia that matured before!Just a very small portion of my collection.

It could have happened 91 minutes later![]()

I could supply a farm with them now. They really exploded when I was scrubbing the algae from my rocks, and they didn't even blink at the peroxide soaking I did.Yea, those file fish are the best I've seen at knocking out aptasia. Shouldn't take it no time at all to clean up your tank and put the farm out of business [emoji12]That's nothingI could supply a farm with them now. I had a pretty heinous algae problem, so I decided to address the algae first. The filefish is in now in QT and has cleaned the rocks I transferred over. In about 3 weeks, my display will start getting the attention.

Seems there are alot of rodi overflow mishaps. I cant help but wonder if there is something out there on the market in the way of a "safety" that is cheap, easy, and portable. Put it on your container when you start and receive an alarm or signal once it reaches a certain level on your jug?? And no all you smarty pants out there....im not referring to timers or alarm clocks on our cell phones lol!
Yea, I've heard that as well. I recall once when I had let my water run on, I had for some reason dropped my line down at the bottom of the jug. It ran for hours! When I remembered about it and came running in expecting to find a major flood I was shocked to see that not a drop had slipped past the lip of the jug. The weight of the water was so much greater than the pressure of the water coming out of my valve that it somehow supressed any additional flow. Perhaps there is a pressure valve that could be installed just above the valve that cuts off the water when the water weight becomes greater than the water pressure.. Im not an engineer, plumber etc by any means, but I would think that something along those lines would be possible. Would sure be helpful to forgetful folks like myself [emoji6]I use the BRS float valve, but I have heard they can fail too.

Plus a Tunze Osmolator would probably be as bulletproof as you can get without using a digital timer valve.
thanks for the link! This I can definitely relate to!Like... when the wife finds the receipt for last batch of corals you bought? The "yes Honey, that 1/2" frag did cost $200 but just think, in 40 years it will be almost 3" tall!" type predicament?![]()
LOL ... Well, try put together a brand new 2nd tank, where each piece of is only $125, corals are only $50, and fish are only 35 ... until she gets on the internet on-line banking and sees that I spent $3,000, and end up sleeping with the fishes! :-( lolSo I told my wife this hobby was NOT that expensive... told her total for everything was 400 lol then i forgot to close my internet and she found the $500 skimmer i was looking at.lol

LOL ... Oh, how I love that expression! Hard to use cash when most of my purchases are made on-line, and that's because most of the LFS in my area that use to carry marine fish, corals and equipment have either disappeared or turn purely to freshwater only. I'd rather ask for forgiveness or fight rather than switch, he said with a sheepish grin ;-0 lolLOL! I find it's better to ask for forgiveness than permission or use cash!!!
Its times like those Im thankful to have a local club with folks I can call anytime of the day or night to lend a hand, bring some water and help take care of business! When ur hit by a stink when u walk in the door. U walk in the room nd the tank is cloudy nd u see the digital thermometer says 97.8! U don't have enough salt for an emergency water change nd it's 930pm. So u float bags of ice all night to get the temp down.
