Personally, T5’s alone give a bland flat look to the tank. The kessils provide shimmer, depth and pop that I love. So yes for me it was worth it. But you can get similar results visually with a t5 fixture a couple reefbrite strips.
Hybrid is the way to go imo. You get the growth and coverage from the T5s and the color pop from the leds. The mix is nice. My acros look healthy and happy, but im not sure how they will look once they get a bit bigger.
However, I think my next build will be sps dominant and ill give halides/led a try.
