zeovit and how I dose it

I actually have a question regarding fish. So it looks like you don’t qt your fish. But you put them in a stable holding tank connected to your main system via uv. That’s what mike paletta did on his old system too. How is that working ? It’s very interesting. That’s a great way of introducing fish and corals if the uv caught all the bad stuff in the water column.

Stress is the number one killer on new fish. When fish stress out it will be weak and all the parasite which always in your water will attack. I have a holding tank which I put new fish in there for a month before I add them to the main tank. When they stay by them self they have no stress because of bullying and they will eat and gain weight. I can always catch and dip them if they look sick and have parasite appeared A lot of reefer lose fish when they try to quarantine with med because it stress the fish out.

I assume it’s best to start from the beginning with zeovit, but would it be harmful to start on an established tank? Mine has been running for several years but I would love to start the full zeovit now. If I start at the low dosing as you mentioned and worked my way up, would the tank adjust ok?

No u can start zeovit anytime. The dosage will be different than to start from beginning. Yes u need to start low dose for established tank then build it up instead of 50% u can dose 1/3. Calculate zeobak, zeostart3 and sponge power dose 1/3 for 3 months then add 10% each month until full dose. If u run gfo or any kind of carbon dosing like sugar or vodka then slowly reducing them.

No GFO or carbon dosing currently, just activated carbon in a reactor. I do run a low nutrient tank as it is with Nitrate and Phosphate often reading zero so it shouldn't be a shock to the system.

You said zeobak, zeostart3, and sponge power. I thought it was zeobak, zeostart3, and zeoFood?

One more question. I've seen places that ULNS tanks should run Alk closer to 7. I'm currently around 7.9-8.1. Do I need to drop Alk and maintain closer to 7?

Your alk is fine since I don't like to run ulns even with zeovit I run my tank with phosphate 0.08 and nitrate 5-10ppm. Instead of zeofood I use Coral vitalizer.

Zeovit will make your tank a balance ecology close to natural sea water parameters. The best part about zeo is its make your tank balance between export and import of nutrients through natural cycle of bacteria and microorganisms
Since bacteria works 24/7 your tank parameters don't Jump as much as when u are using an agent like gfo to reduce phosphate.

Thank you for tour help. I’m very intrigued by the ZeoVit method. I personally like the manual dosing. It gives me something to do and forces me to be fully engaged with the tank and its inhabitants.

Plus the results speak for themselves.

The only downside is that there are SO many different additives. By description a lot of them seem to do similar things so it can be a little overwhelming as to what you should or shouldn’t use.

Will Sponge Power do any good if I don't have sponges, clams or sea squirts?

Sponge power is helpful in promoting sponge growth. Something reef tanks will have at some point.
It is good to use.

What do you think I’m currently building a 60 gal deep blue frag tank . With a 75 gal sump . I’m going to use a large amount of seachem matrix for the live rock in a reactor . There will be no fish in the frag tank just urchins and snails for cuc . I was going to use Coral Vitalizer flatworm stop spong power and Zeobak I truly believe in bacteria in tank . Also would feed Reef Roids and ground frozen PE mysis and calanus . So with all that do you think i would benefit with a small amount of zeovit or would it cause issues since i would not . Have fish .I would have a small skimmer running

With no fish u can adjust the dosage to controll the level of phosphate and nitrate. However fish do add additional food for the corals so without fish doesn't mean best for the tank.
