Zibba's Reefs -- ADA 90P & Envision 100g

Finally, I picked up a topdown view box about 3-weeks ago. I tried to take pictures with my DSLR several times and it just wasn’t working out for me. This time I tried shooting in RAW mode on my smaller Canon s100 point and shoot. I was pretty impressed with the quality:

Not saving the best picture for last but this is really interesting. It’s a Tyree Setosa that, if you look closely, has some yellow strands running through it:

I like that planted Piranha tank, dude! Some rippin' shots for a public aquarium!

Have you started the Tech M regime? I've done that before, with great success. I've never had the problem with this tank (knocking on head), but it worked wonders on my 30g Shallow Reef that I did a couple years ago.

True story on the acans! You can see the rainbows were freshly cut so hopefully they'll heal up alright.

The piranha tank was really incredible and thanks for the compliments.

Yes, started the tech-m yesterday after a 20ish gallon water change. About 4-hour post-water change I tested all of my main parameters (Alk 7.6; Cal 410; Mg 1300). I dosed 80 mL of alk/cal to bring my levels up a bit then added 3 cups of tech-m, which should have brought the levels up around 1375 or so. I added another cup this morning and I'll add two more cups tonight, which should bring me to around 1450-1500. Hopefully I'll start to see the effects sooner than later.

Forgot to mention that we picked up 4 emerald crabs to combat some bubble algae and they've already done a great job and are continuing to mow it down. In a few weeks, I'm sure everything will be looking primo (also, knocks on head).

Choati Update!

Just got word that she's out swimming around and ate some frozen food after 2-days of hiding in the sand. Keeping our fingers crossed that everyone continues to play nice and that she gets a chance to settle in.

I'm happy my ocellaris have always chosen a corner of the tank and not a coral.

But it's certainly more entertaining and appealing the common observer in your case. And as long as the coral tolerates it, all is well. Watching Jeff's reside in his rainbow palys is a kick.

Haha, exactly! I've seen them host/ruin beautiful montis before. I'm not going to add any anemones to either tank so I guess this is the closest thing. I was actually thinking that they would end up in the Nepthia or zoas.

I haven't been over to Jeff's place yet, but looking forward to it when I do. See you Saturday?

The trip to London was primarily for work but I snuck in 2-days of play and got a chance to see some of the major sites.

That clown looks very happy!!

Cool cool. No plans yet except maybe dipping some corals I'm suppose to attend some dinner function for work, but I'd like to blow that off. We'll try to keep it open so let's play it by ear!

Hey Lucas! We've met before, right? I grew up in MN and was an active TCMAS member for a few years before moving to AZ in 2009.

Thanks for the compliment! Yeah, that mummy eye is in a tough place to photograph because it's near the back of the tank and there's a big orange sponge in front of it. Just got lucky that the Lawnmower blenny decided to hang out and be very still for the 1-2 second exposure. I'm really impressed with the color and growth of the mummy eye!

I am still QTing (it's currently running fishless with chaeto and LR) but I did notQT the Choati for several reasons: (1) the LFS I bought it from QT's their new arrivals and gave this fish special care by holding her for about 3-4 weeks in their dedicated LPS/softie 120 Elos that was otherwise fishless, (2) I knew how sensitive they were to changes and I trust the stability of my system over my QT, and (3) my QT doesn't have a sand bed (although there is a healthy pod population in there).

I guess it's just a risk I was willing to take on this fish. Just like I didn't dip a few specific acros (e.g., the ORA Hawkins).
