Zibba's Reefs -- ADA 90P & Envision 100g

That was incredibly... unhelpful! LOL! :D I understand though which makes me just as unhelpful. :D

You're welcome!

It's such a toss up these days. Here's another take. IMO, LPS look undeniably better under blue LEDs vs. VHO Super Actinics. Whereas SPS look much better under VHO super actinics compared to the same blue LED lighting.

Beautiful pics man, what camera and lens are you using on those last shots?

I think we've lost him doctor! Get the paddles!

+5 to halides. I'm going back after trying a couple types of LEDs. Ill keep up a tank to rock LPS and what not and have a SOL above but not on the main display. I need my sps thriving :).

Did a water change last night and since the tank was still, I gave top downs another go.

Loving this acan

Ponape BN

Meteor Shower

Tyree WM that's been in the AZ reefing community for a long time:

Phoenix Sunset Chalice

[I think the lawnmower blenny just pooped a bunch of sand on it! lol]

Gold Torch w/ clown

Miagi Tort

Green BN frag

Orange Cycloseris

Here's an updated ADA shot (still a ton of work to do with coral placement!)

If anyone has suggestions for coral placement/aquascaping, please let me know!

wow. outstanding i'm hoping the 57 will look half this good. love the meat and scoly.

Yo, thanks Matty! :) I need to move that scoly a little bit -- it stung the nepthia behind it a little the last two nights when the lights went out and it was trying to feed. The meat coral is a beast! I need to catch that angel in the other tank so I can move some of these really bigger pieces up there.

It's looking great man. Keep up the GW.

How are you supplementing your radium?

Gracias Parker!

Radium is supplemented with 2 x 36" UVL VHO Super Actinics that run on an ARO ballast. I run the VHO's from 12pm to 10pm and the Radium from 4pm-9pm.

I've spent way too many hours trying to identify whether I have diatoms or dinoflagellates and how to treat them. Here's a picture of what's been going on for awhile:

I've come to the conclusion that the only sure fire way to make the ID is through a microscope and I don't have one. So I've been trying to convince myself that they're diatoms for several weeks (months?) now and that they'll eventually exhaust all of the silicates and die off. But, of course, that's not happening. After drugging through the H2O2 threads, I decided to give it a shot. I'll be dosing 15 mL (1mL/10gal of total water volume) of 3% H2O2 for the next week and I'll be closely monitoring how things react.

Diatoms. Silicates are real high in our water here; worse in some areas. You run a Silicabuster DI cartridge right? When's the last time you changed it? I get diatoms when it's due for a replacement. You may find you even need to run an extra stage of silicabuster to get them all; I know the Penn state tank is ran as such.

Yeah, I'm using the Spectrapure Silicabuster DI and I replaced it about 2-3 months ago or so. Do silicates show up on the TDS meter? I'm at 2 pre-DI and 0 post-DI.

I should add too that I noticed it on the tips of a few acros and it's causing them not to open up. I thought diatoms would stick to the sand bed -- wrong?

Looks just like I have. I've had them for two years. I run the silicate buster DI as well but never noticed any difference from when I switched from the BRS resin. If its on the tips of your acros I'd wonder if you burnt the tips.

May have had alk go too high when I left out pre portioned doses while we were on vaca last week. :(

The ADA and Envison are plugged into the same sump sharing the same water volume. I have an ATB 840v2 that pulls the gunk for both tanks. So far I'm very happy with it! :)

I'm thinking about getting the same skimmer for my 57g.

Is it rocking the Flowstar 1500 or the Sicce Syncra?

How long did it take to get to you? (Since it ships from the manufacturer only)
