I realized that the photoeditor works but it was my browser that kept loading the unedited pictures. Although I didn't blur our all of the particulate in each picture, the ones I did look better than the originals. My computer is ancient and the spot editor in lightroom really slows it down so I was trying to find a better workflow. I'll keep using the photobucket editor for a bit longer and see if I can make it work. I don't want to buy photoshop, but might have to one of these days.

I didn't have heat issues at all this winter but with the AZ summer heat, I added a chiller to the system. The halides definitely heat up the tank but I could probably get by with fans just fine (and adding fans is on my to-do because it will save some electricity and should keep temperatures more stable). Right now the chiller kicks on at 79.2 until it reaches 78.7 and then it turns off and heaters turn on from 78.5-79.0 so there's some inefficient overlap but it's necessary since the halides cause the tank to go over 79.2 pretty quick if I just stopped the chiller at 79.0. Long answer short, yes I do have issues with the MH but my temps are still kept in a tight range.

Tryna figure out how high maye I should hang it and if I should add a fan that hangs on the back to push the heat away from the tank as best as possible

I think every system is going to be a little different so I'd wait and see what temperatures do while you're cycling the tank. You'll get a good feel for what your temperature range will is based on the ambient temp of your house. Evaporative cooling is very effective -- just angle the fan so it blows over the surface of the water. If you don't have a controller, you can set it on a cheap timer to come on when your halides are running to minimize the amount of evaporation. Many people who dose kalkwasser via top-off and have a high alk/cal demand keep fans going 24hrs to maximize evaporation. Many ways to skin the cat. Best to start with a less expensive option like a fan versus a chiller. AKA, don't follow my lead! Although, in my defense, I got the chiller for a killer deal.

Thanks for all the info man, I like how you got an envision, James is an amazing tank builder. I live in Oregon so you see them kinda often and his work is truly amazing.

I thought they did a nice job on the tank. It's way overbuilt, which isn't necessarily a bad thing as I really the piece of mind. My only complaint is that the acrylic so so thick, 1" on the sides and 1.5" on the front, that a magnet cleaner to wipe down the panels is $200+ lol...I'm being cheap and just cleaning the tank 1-2x per week with the magic eraser. I'd prefer to keep my hands out of the tank.

They do a nice job, that's for sure.
In other news, I accidentally broke the weir on my sump while trying to take out the skimmer to clean it. Really bummed out as I shattered the glass. I cut out all of the pieces and there's still half in there. I'm still deciding what to do. Right now it's still functioning but I need to reevaluate once I get the skimmer cleaned up and back online.
Always something, right?!?

Just read the entire thread. Great job on these two tanks. I love the way they are both plumbed together, but you are going totally different directions with them.
Sorry to hear about the sump baffle. It stinks when bad stuff happens. and unfortunately it seems to happen all to often with these glass boxes filled with water that we keep in our homes.
Thanks for sharing the journey so completely, both the good times and the bad. Your tanks are going to be absolutely killer when they are all filled in, and it will be good to have documented all the challenges and successes you have had along the way.
You have some great color and growth on some of your SPS corals. Not an easy task in a tank that is under one year old. Keep up the good work.

Haha, thanks y'all! I'm super excited but I have to wait a bit longer for everything to ship out. I may drive out there next weekend to visit friends and stop into RR to pick them up -- otherwise I'll get them on the 2nd.
