Nice progression shots. Sorry to hear about the AEFWs. I hope that one day we have a way of eradicating those bastages without as much risk to our corals. I hope everything holds up well during treatment for you.

BTW, what is your treatment protocol going to be for the tank? Wish you the best of luck.

Thanks cmax. I'm still debating on whether to treat the acros in my QT tank (would need to buy a light) or to dip them and replace back into the main display every week for a few months. Either way, there's likely going to be some changes to the aquascape (really bummed out about that) because I'm going to try and cut off as much of the encrusting portions as possible. I just bought a diamond bit saw blade to cut through the rock. I think the plan is to start the whole process in two weeks after my parents come out for a holiday visit.

I think I would try and remove them if you can. That stinks about having to change the scape, but if you can beat these terrors it will be worth it. I understand about putting it off until after company leaves. Nothing is more disheartening than having a reef that is without corals for one reason or another. Good luck with the whole process.

I can't say I'm "winning" the AEFW battle because I really haven't done much except basting the corals during water changes and dipping acros that aren't encrusted and that show signs of infection. Truthfully, 95% of the acros look great and you wouldn't be able to tell that I had AEFW at all. It's caused me to slow down in deciding how to best treat them. Evolved has had good luck with the KZ flatworm stop + coral booster and considering that I haven't noticed things getting too out of hand, I may go that route. Really though, it comes down to lack of time and willingness on my end to get in there and chop all of the corals off the rock. I'm seeing good color, growth and polyp extension, which I think would be enough good reason for any hobbyist to take a step back before going down a more drastic course.

Here's a picture of the first coral that went in my tank about 13-months ago. Have had it under both the halides and LEDs. Takes on more blue and has more contrast under the LEDs, but I like the really pink look under the halides (plus I needed the room in the ADA).

On a smaller system like yours and mine, I think it makes the most sense to stick with a doser. Take a look at both options though and see what works best with your design. Lots of successful reefs done both ways.
