Those two corals are looking pretty great right now so had to capture them on camera. Never know when things can take a turn! Lol.
That's the ORA Red Planet Acro. The part of it that I photographed hasn't grown much in the last 6 months. Instead, it threw out a nub that's turning into a nice tabling arm.

OK, I had a feeling that's what it was. I have the same one and love watching it through my magnetic magnifier but that is such intense detail.
BTW, that green birds nest I picked up is doing very well.
I've been looking into a camera lately so that I can attempt some of those nice shots.

I was thinking of picking up a trio of Anthias a few days ago. Whilst driving from one LFS to another with a couple of buddies, we were talking about Anthias etc, and the one thing that came out of it was that even UK reefers were finding that the Ventralis Anthias just die after some time.
I was looking through your thread today and just remembered that you had Ventralis die on you for no reason. I doubt there is anything you could have done to stop them dying.
I am thinking of catching a few of my Green chromis and replacing with Anthias...but not sure which kind...any ideas?

It's pretty incredible what you can see with a macro lens or magnifying glass, more color and so much more detail that's simply missed with the naked eye. Glad to hear the Green BN is doing well. Are you coming up to Phoenix for the PROP auction or the Coral Farmer's Market? Both will be great events if you can!
Ventralis can be difficult and I think it's tied to the collection/acclimation process more than anything. I'm not sure if you can find them or, inversely, they may be more prevelant, but keep a look out the Pseudoanthias flavoguttatus ("Red Saddled" anthias) since there on the smaller size. There are hardier anthias available, e.g., lyretail, bartlett's, etc., but they'll probably get too big for your tank. Speaking of anthias, have you been to the London Aquarium recently? When I was there back in May, they had a few great anthias displays -- should be able to get some good ideas there!

Thank you reefaboo! Not all of the corals are looking that good but most are coming back around.
I run the razor about 10-12" off the water. Here are my specs:

T1: 0800 0%/1%
T2: 12:00 10%/15%
T3: 14:00 20%/70%
T4: 15:00 65%/100%
T5: 21:30 1%/60%
T6: 23:00 0%/0%

Well, this isn't fun news to report but I found Acro-eating flatworms last night on one of my favorite deep water acros. I had both a frag and a mother colony of the piece.
One came off the frag in my ADA:
One came off the mother colony in the Envision:
I noticed what could have been bite marks on the frag not too long ago and was trying to convince myself it was the nepthia rubbing against it -- I guess I didn't want to admit the inevitable. Actually, when I first got the acro, I noticed bite marks on the base of it:
I cut the coral really high -- leaving only areas where I couldn't find ANY bite marks -- then dipped it in Bayer. I thought that would cover it. Obviously, I was wrong.
This was a macro picture I took of the piece under actinics not too long ago:

After finding the AEFW yesterday, I instantly took the coral outside and threw it into the street, then ran it over this morning on my way to work.
This will be my first experience dealing with AEFW, so wish me luck. I'll need it.

Thanks everyone! Hopefully it's not too big of an issue but we'll see. Haven't had much time for the tank for the last month or so, so it's been sitting in auto-pilot. Besides the AEFW, the tank is looking great and corals are coloring-up/growing pretty well.

Unfortunately, its a 2.5 hour drive. I barely have time to make it to the frag swaps in Tucson. Your pics have inspired me to shop around for a camera to take my own macro shots. I'm putting a Canon T3 on my Christmas list. Keep up the good work and stay on top of that AEFW problem.
