120 gallon slow build

Water change went great replaced about 30 gallons of water from the tank. I need to invest in a extra pump, powerhead and heater to make this process easier lol. Any ways did all my test after the water change and everything is in check.
Ammonia-0
Nitrites-0
Ph-8.3
Nitrates-5ppm

Hopefully one more water change on Tuesday will knock those nitrates to 0.

Bought some reinforcements for the cuc. Another crab and 3 snails. The snails are already doing work lol. Also the LFS had cheap frags. So I bought my first coral! Candy cane coral. It's little but it's a start and from what iv gather it's a good beginners coral.

Awesome Brandon! You now have an official reef tank! How's the nem doing?

Only took 9 months of planning and saving lol but I was definitely excited to bring the first coral home. And at a deal that frag was only $10! The nem is doing alright, honestly though I may throw in the towel with him and see if the LFS will take him back. He seems healthy enough but won't stay put no matter where I put him or let him drift. I don't want to see it die if I don't have to. But I'm gonn give him another Couple days. I'll do another water change Monday see if that helps. And I got filter pads to help in my sump.
On another note you weren't kidding about snails doing work. I got 3 turbo snails and another emerald crab and the snails are destroying the algae. You can see exactly where they have been on the rocks lol. Excited to see this coral let out its feeding tubes tonight. I will attempt to get a picture if I catch it.

Ya those snails leave the rocks spotless. I went to the lfs and got 8 more today. Almost came home with a octo frog spawn and then he told me the price. $120!! Man you scored on that trumpet! They want $50 here. Hope Ya get a pic of the feeder tubes I'd love to see that.

Yeah exactly why I started following different local things like r2r on Facebook there's a lot of people out there selling frags and corals and just about anything from home. Usually when there tank starts over growing. But from what iv seen they always have better prices. It's just finding someone you trust.

Have you hooked us your reactor? Happy with it? that's the BRS brand correct?

Ya it's BRS. I've had it hooked up now for three weeks now and I love it! Cleaned the yellow right out and my Po4 is under. O5! 2/3 cup carbon and 1/3 GFO that's it. I hooked with a guy on this forum that sells corals. He's the one that gave me the monti cap. Was gonna buy a coral form him this weekend but he's busy so no dice.

Also it's the standard reactor that comes with the pump. The deluxe model really didn't seem any better other than looks

Yeah that's the one I'm looking to get. Gonna take a little bit to convince the wife though. My phosphates are high is my reasoning behind wanting one. Not curing my rock iv learned is having its disadvantages. Yes my cycle went more than quick but my algae build up is getting bad. The cuc is definitely helping but the reactor would help much more. I got pads to put in my sump to absorb the phosphate, hopefully they help.

this stuff rocks! It's recommended too be used in a mesh bag in the sump and will drastically drop your Po4 in four days! It's aluminum oxide. The manager at the lfs has used it for years and loves the stuff. It worked awesome for till I got my reactor going. Give it a shot. I think I only paid $15 for it
