120 gallon slow build

Sorry about your damsel issue. Phewww! filled tank with freshwater today to see if there is any leaks. Everything is leak free yay! I will let it sit in vinegar and water to clean and check tomorrow for leaks. If there isn't i believe the tank is good to go. Second coat of primer going on the stand tonight.

That sucks! Mine left the clowns alone after a few days hopefully yours will too. Although he still takes a shot at them once in a while

well i hope i get lucky like that lol he doesnt mess with the yellow tail damsels too much though so maybe he will get use to the clow. if not he is being evicted.

How long did it take to fill yours and how did you do it?

i used RO/DI. imo its the only way to go with a reef. i have a BRS watersaver plus 150gpd but it took 3 days because i was to scared to leave it running over night. but i ran the line to the tank filled it added my salt and got it to temp then added the live sand. took another 2 days to fully clear.

Yeah i got RODI system from BRS i will use. Was just wondering if you filled right to tank or if you bought some type of mixing tub and premixed your water.

Nope mixed it right in the tank. If your gonna do live sand I would fill it to about 4 inches or so from the top. Get the salinity right and then add your sand. Then start filling again and keep adding salt when needed. Make sure it's to temp as well. You don't want to kill the bacteria.

So hooked up my new BRS RO/DI system. Really feels good to eliminate the water question! But holy cow is that thing slow and, what a waste of water! 4 to 1 ratio. Brandon you got the plus water saver version 150gl a day, mine is the plus 75gl a day one. You think yours was slow! Lol. Still won't be to bad, I need about thirty gl a week with top off and water change so no biggie. But if I was filling the tank, well I see what you were talking about now!

Water waste was the reason I got the water saver version the ratio becomes 1x2 instead of 4 the 150 gpd was just a added bonus lol. At least you're on a well I gotta pay for mine lol. which one did you get lonny? i love mine and i havent had a single leak apart from one o ring not sitting properly the first time i used it but never another one and that one was a easy fix. when you see what your filter looks like after 30 gallons youll never go back. did you get the faucet kit with it? iv still yet to hook up my pressure tank and faucet just have all the hoses coming up out the faucet hole lol but itll come soon my wife is getting sick of looking at them. right now i just fill a 3 gallon jug everyday of just RO everyday and keep it in the fridge. NEVER ending bottled water!! iv even started cooking with only RO after seeing the filters.

also this nem may not have been the best idea. after doing some research and posting i failed to remember the rule of never trust the guy trying to sell you a product and my tank may not be ready. iv read from a decent amount of people that it is possible to keep one at this stage but it is very difficult and the anemone has not stopped moving around. iv had to save his life and re place him sooooo many times even my wife has had to grab him before he went down the over flow. trust me she was happy about having to touch it lol. but if its moving around it doesnt like my water because i know i have enough light and flow and i guess you need at least a year before your tank is stable enough for them. i mean he looks healthy but wont stay put longer than like 12 hours. if it doesnt pick a spot soon and stay looking healthy i may see if my lfs will trade it in. as much as i dont want to but i also dont want to kill it.

It's the four stage plus. Same as yours without the water saver. Man that sucks! A year huh, that really takes the wind out of my sails. I was hoping to get one way sooner then that but like you I don't want to kill him either. Hopefully he settles down and adjusts to your water. Did anybody have any tips on keeping one at your stage?

yes and no. mainly just hawk eye all parameters and use chems to keep them there. we will see. it still wont pick a spot just keeps releasing and going for joy rides. and thats awesome about the RO/di its a good one. i like the tds meter built in. make sure you run it with the pressure thing on the back open for about 10 minutes before using it after storing it. it will flush the canisters.

I'm not even sure fow to hook up our RODI yet. My wife won't have it in the kitchen or bathroom. And tank is downstairs where there is no faucets except for the hose out back outside. May have to run some long tubing to get to the tank.

if you have any water lines running in the ceiling of the basement you could hook it there somewhere.

Thats what i'm figuring having to tap into a water source somewhere down there. Yeah she is already being a pain about the idea of getting water from the sink. No it won't be used for drinking water, just water for the tank.

that sucks ;/ yeah i would look for a line and tap into that. on a plus if you buy enough tubing you can have the RO/DI near your tank and run a line to the tank like i did. then its just a matter of flipping on the water to top off. just dont forget you turned it on and walk away lol

Mine came with a mur-lock garden hose adapter. If you didn't get one with the unit BRS will have one you could order. Happy wife full tank!
