Alright guys I keep changing my mind but I have finally pulled the trigger on a 20 gallon long. I picked up the tank today. I have a aqueon quiet flow 30 and a Finnex External Refugium Breeder Hang-on Box Water Pump w/ a Fuge Ray LED. In the finnex hob refugium I'm going to have one compartment live rock, another cheato, and one with Purigen and chemipure. I'm also going to have 2 Hydor Koralia Nano 240's in the tank. I'm going to put 20-25 pounds of live sand and 20-25 pounds of live rock and until I figure out what LEDs I want to purchase I'm just going to use a t5 fixture I already have. As far as livestock goes I'm planning on a shrimp/goby pair (still trying to decide what) and a pair of designed clowns and a firefish (still trying to decide what kind). Does this sound like a good setup? Any and all feedback welcome. Oh and I am planning on keeping corals mostly softies but also maybe a hammer or torch and an anemone(not sure what kind but definitely not a condi).

Stick with high output T5s. Metal halides and T5s are still superior to LEDs.

Alright starting to set everything up! I have 30 pounds of sand 10 of it is live. I have 9-10 pounds of live rock and getting another 10 or so pounds tonight. 10 gallons of water in. Going to put a heater and air pump in tonight and going to get the lights up today as well. Filter and everything else will be in tomorrow morning! Any suggestions or comments welcome!

And these are the bulbs I'm using. What corals can I keep with these and would an anem be ok?

I know they are 24" but I didn't have enough money to get 30" lights right now planning on getting some soon. Or would a 24" be ok?

Usually you put the heater in before the live rock and live sand, but it should be fine. Why are you planning to use an air pump? What about water circulation - do you have a powerhead?

A 24" light will be fine.

Yes the filter and power heads were suppose to be in today but now they won't be in till tomorrow morning at 8. The air pump was just for a little water movement until they get in in the morning. The heater wasn't in yet but the temp in the tank is 78 I'm putting in the heater right now.

Are 2 Hydor Koralia Nano 240's in the tank going to be to much flow or should it be just fine?

Lights and heater are one! going to get more water in about 2 hours.

That's when I'm getting the rest of the rock for it too!

Also I bought some chaeto today to put in the refugium (since I live an 1 hour and a half away from my LFS) can I just put it in the tank until tomorrow or how should I keep it?(it was free so it's fine if it dies, I just don't want to have to drive back over there.)

What do you guys think? Do the rock differently? Or is it goo?

I think the rockscape is lacking. The rocks are very flat so they don't click together naturally, they kinda just sit on top of eachother, also, that big rock in the middle is being wasted, instead of having an area for coral you have a wall that's facing down which is really just limiting your coral choices. Instead of moving it you should put a rock in front of it. I really like the right side of the tank, it has lots of room for the corals to sit on, the left however looks unnatural, and maybe even unstable. Maybe you could tilt it forward and lay it on the sand to layer the rocks, so you have different levels. Hope this helped :)

What corals do you plan to stock, I really recommend LPS for a beginner like you, you said you plan on keeping softies mostly, only maybe one LPS, why are you limiting yourself from LPS? There are some beautiful ones, and they're great beginner corals.

What corals fall under LPS? Sorry I know it's probably a dumb question.

Not a dumb question, it's pretty vague.
Here's some of my personal favourite LPS corals (in no particular order) that would do well in a beginner tank:
Hammers (usually green, but some are yellow or orange)
Torches (come in green and gold, and I've even seen an orange one)
Frogspawns (two types with chubby or thin tentacles that come in green and orange)
Acans (come in all colours, mostly red)
Favias (come in many colours, usually green and purple)
Favites (very similar to favias)
Blastomussa (come in many colours, but mostly red and mint green)

And once your tank has become stable:
My personal favourite LPS: Chalices (come in all colours, some look like a dinner plate with spots while others look like a Picasso painting, can get pricy but you can get them cheap if you look hard)
Scolymia (usually green and red but also come in blue, orange, purple, and I've seen yellow ones)
Open brains like trachyphyllia (come in all colours and can be dazzling ranbows or a solid colour)
Cynarina (usually translucent and come in mostly red and green)
Acanthophyllia (like big fat meaty scolys, with more colour variants)
Acan Echinata (Are a type of acan, but fall under the needs of chalices, come in all colours but usually orange or dark green)

Hope I helped :)

Awesome! If I did decide to do LEDs what are some good ones that won't break the bank. Also I can hang them where the aquarium is.

Ocean revive T247

You don't need to spend $1000 on Radions, OR T247 are awesome. I've seen the results and gonna get them myself.
