240 gallon build

Just got caught up. Glad you got the monster home. Looks like you could float the kayak in there too... Lol

Send out the call when you need help. If I'm not traveling for work I'll gladly come play.

Good idea Bill, I know you weren't too fond of your recent stand build. Do you have someone else I might be able to talk to?

PM sent!

Thanks man! I will say getting a 180 would have been much easier, but I think this will make for some interesting scape options. Thanks again for helping me out with the cups, total lifesaver!
Talk to ToXIc he had one made in the Boro.

Is Christmas in August a thing? Hoping to get this stuff wet soon.

 Nice!

Do you have an ETA on getting everything wet yet?

I'm shooting for Halloween realistically between getting it plumbed and the stand skin and canopy built and figuring out my sump, scaping, and lighting.

Love Xmas in August!!! good choice on the diablo pump.
Thanks, the UPS guy was very confused when I tried to explain what all the Reef Octopus boxes meant! From what everyone has said, the diablo is pretty solid and relatively quiet. Looking forward to seeing how well it does on both.

dude. we yanked one like that out of that 180. I still have the torn up hands to prove it. Got to love big pebbles. I have some monsters in my tank too.

Nice! Do you have yours on starboard or eggcrate? Trying to figure out what to put down since Im wanting to do BB.

The 180 came with starboard, so I'll be setting that monstrosity on starboard. :)

If you want to do BB, I'd highly recommend starboard. The eggcrate would catch detritus I would think, unless you just really enjoy cleaning out every square with a water vacuum. ;)

Thats what I was thinking, tough stuff to find around here. At least that 180 came with it! You setting it up this weekend?

If I'm not mistaken, its the same material as plastic cutting boards. High density polyethylene I think. HDPE? Edit: Its worth a Google... found it here: http://www.amazon.com/Density-Polye...1?ie=UTF8&qid=1377895890&sr=8-1&keywords=hdpe

Man, I wish I was! I've got quite a bit of work and a lot of things to purchase before I set the tank up. :) On the agenda for this weekend is to get the old rocks bleached, dried, and maybe start an ro/di soak. :) Gotta research exactly what to do to remove as much crap from the rocks as possible.

I dont have anything under my rocks but some of the sand.

Brandon, when we tore josh's tank down, I set the rocks on the driveway for a few days and then pressure washed them. that worked really good getting everything off. I put a large piece back in my sump recently and it didnt spike anything. same with the chunk I used in my 5 gallon nano.

Awesome! Good to know. I think I'll be washing them with the hose to knock the crap off and then bleaching them. :) Those rocks have been in there a LONG time. I want to make sure to kill all things organic... I've got the time to cycle them afterwards in my stock tank. :)

Since I'm waiting for a fantasy football draft, figured I'd update real quick. Got a little more rock and my RO/DI. Hoping to get this thing drilled and my stand/canopy figured out by this weekend.

That is the same RO/DI unit that I have. In time I ended up adding the Max Cap (I think that's what they call it) second stage of DI and upgraded the membrane to the 99% rejection rate unit. You shouldn't have any issues with the unit as is though. Best to make a lot of water at one time than to make multiple short batches frequently.
