40 gallon rimless lagoon with waterfall

I'm curious about smell. Cured live rock has a distinct odor. I wonder if the smell will leach out of the rock that's out of the water?

Thank you!!! It's still coming along! I am trying to find the right places to put a few red mangroves where it doesn't look out of place and more like the natural environment.

Great looking tank and cool idea... Will def be following along as my wife loves waterfalls and she wanted me to do a waterfall tank.

I love what you are doing with this tank! Can't wait to watch it progress. :)

Very cool! I am going through tons of threads to get some stand ideas for our new condo. I will be following the progress.

As long as the wife is happy, I am happy! That's why I have to keep her loving this hobby! I will let you know how it progresses so just follow along!!!

Following, Like the idea of the water fall is it very noisy?
Waterfall is as loud or as quiet as we want it to be thanks to the loc line ball valve I put on it. We prefer a little trickle but nothing that sounds like toilet flushing or anything! I can also make it silent too.

Thank you! This is the perfect size setup in my opinion for a condo or apartment! The stand is one thing after this build that I will never skimp on again. So much better knowing it is made like a brick house and looks like a super modern table.

Looking very cool like the waterfall idea looks like it's working out well. It's a beautiful build.
Thank you so much!!! I can't wait to start loading it up!!! Especially the red mangroves which I think will give it more of that coastal lagoon appearance!

Here is a quick pic of my other tank (needs cleaned) and the frag rack full of frags I am holding for this build once the tank is cycled, these will find a new home in the waterfall lagoon tank!

Very cool idea with the waterfall. Following along to watch the progress.

Cheers,
Alex
Hey thank you!!!! It was something I have been wanting to do for several years but just never "officially" started until recently!

Today was my final day of using the stability (Day 7). Now I will wait 48 hours and then add in carbon, after that another 48 hours and then I'll kick on the skimmer. Here is a quick update picture as of today. As you can see, I got a large diatom bloom, which is exactly what I want to see!!!! Another picture looking from my kitchen out in to the foyer and front door.

I decided to go with Chemipure Elite rather than just pure active carbon, which I have had really good luck with in the past. Ran all my tests and the tank is as follows:

Phosphates: 0.25
Calcium: 440
Salinity: 1.025
Magnesium: 1170
Ammonia: 0
Nitrites: 0
Nitrates: 0
pH: 7.6
kH: 7

The diatoms are beginning to dissipate. Finally added in the last rock on the top of the waterfall to help cover some of the loc-line and make it look more natural.

The other coral frags are healing nicely and are waiting patiently on the frag rack in the other reef.

Not quite sure how long these bulbs were used, so my plan is to replace the 4-T5's and the MH very soon. I have gone with cheap bulbs in the past and expensive bulbs, and the end result is that you get what you pay for.

Also, looking in to getting an ato for this tank as well. I will probably end up going with the Tunze, but my options are still open.

Still haven't came up with a lineup of fish stock, so please jump in and add your thoughts! Keep in mind I'll be keeping all mixed corals and inverts in tank.
