40 gallon rimless lagoon with waterfall

That is way too cool. Thanks for posting the vid.
You can find tank raised catalinas that do well in warmer reef tank water. I know my LFS was carrying them for a while in socal.
I have never heard of any Catalina gobies that can take the warmer water. Don't know if I want to risk it. I have never seen any down here in Texas at any of the lfs. Thanks for the heads up, I'll do some more research on them because they are really neat fish. I was also looking at the Yasha Goby too. I want some that aren't going to hide though which is more difficult since it depends on the individual fish.

This is a video taken last night. This is the current rock setup and I think it's going to stay this way. You can notice I created two small pools along the waterfall. I am going to try and grow some zoas in those.

Sweet tank! I love the look of the rimless tanks! :)
thank you!! Yeah this is my first rimless. Looks super slick!

Waiting on a longer than usual algae bloom. Guessing my substrate and rocks leached some phosphates. Should have cleaned them better.

Been awhile since an update! Had some issues with the pump so I bought another pump and now everything is running well.

Went ahead and added a couple mangroves as well as corals from my other tank. I stuck them all in the sand to acclimate them to the new lighting system since they were under LED's and now T5, MH, and LED. Everything looks very good so far though and the corals are adapting well! I will begin to start posting a lot more pics now that I have officially began filling.

Finally got my corals up where I wanted them and added several new nice zoa frags: fruit loops, emeralds on fire, la lakers, Rastas, a type of utter chaos, pink lemonade, scrambled eggs, and also added a few more sticks to the collection.

Sold my clown trigger from my old tank and retained my melanarus wrasse and diamond goby to this tank.

Having some issues with lighting. Going to do some diagnostics and then see and hope if it's just the bulbs.

Mag9.5 took a turn south for me, so I went ahead and picked up a Jaebo DCT-6000 controllable pump. I also added a Marinepure block in the sump, and am currently adding a dual media reactor (carbon, gfo). Water change night. Getting ready to add some more fish. Any suggestions?

Got some new frags since I last checked in. Also getting ready to install the gfo and carbon reactor housed under the stand as well. I did finally make the jump to the Jaebo DC-6000. Nice pump so far. Far less heat give off as the Mag 9.5, and silent as could be. I also raised the lights another 5" to get a better spread and coverage.

Looking for a good fish lineup! Let me know what y'all think! As of right now just have a diamond goby that mostly hangs out under the rocks.

Midas blenny would be cool beautiful splash of color and great personality I'll bet @Paul87, would have some good suggestions

A Midas Blenny would be cool. Any blenny really, the fang blennies are more active swimmers in the water column. A dottyback can be a cool (sometimes aggressive though) addition. Plenty types of gobies you could choose from. With the open top I would stay away from dartfish, jawfish, and wrasses. Chromis, cardinals, and some of the smaller basslets would work out good, check out the black cap bass, very pretty fish!

codyren,

I've been in the saltwater hobby for 25 years and need to tip my hat to you. Your build is one of the cleannest and most eligant I've ever seen. Keep up the great work.

Just absolutely amazing!!! Where did you get the idea??? Super inspiring (may have to copy when I upgrade my tank;)). Just a quick question, the mangroves seemed to have disappeared from the newest pics, what happened?

I love the water fall idea. Where in the world did you get an idea like this and how do you to it. I want to still the idea now lol
