90 gallons of fun

Palys and zoos open without water for me haha.

And that cool red algae.
ImageUploadedByTapatalk1361474955.713670.jpg

This is a very fast growing algae. Perfectly suited for a fat tang.

That tank is my 125 "lagoon"
Light is much closer to sun color and very bright t5
Has some engineer gobies, lawnmower, tang, and yes! More snowflakes haha.
I use it to grow out frags and stuf while housing the clowns since I have the pair in the 90 and the pair in my girlfriends tank who are vicious.

The tank gets diatoms and cyano from the light and the sun shines right across the entire tank for an hour a day. Looks amazing but it grows algae.
I have just the right amount to feed the herbivores, I don't mind it on the sand.

This patch has looked like this for months. They trim it before it spreads so it stays relatively at bay, adds a very nice natural sway.

Call me crazy, but hair algae is good when utilized properly.

I will not attempt this in my 90, I'm going to go for the clean look for a while :)

I should mention my lights are on 15% power to start. I will adjust it one notch per day until at what I think is enough for my Lps dominant tank.

Each new coral will reset the cycle unless of course I get it from a very bright tank.

By the time I am sps ready I will start the cycle all over with 2 fixtures and once that is full power I will try an acro.
Again restarting the cycle.

Water tests are extremely good. Nothing fluctuated at all it seems over night.

My sump is revers lit with full blown reef lighting and has macros and rock and sand to control o2 levels a bit.

In all honesty I am not seeing a single thing that I should have done. What a relief!

And now it seems pretty full, not its fluffier but getting close!

The sea whip is starting to open surprisingly. Usually it takes mine a week or so in new waters in the past!

ImageUploadedByTapatalk1361483638.722150.jpg

The feather duster on the galaxea is doing great too!
ImageUploadedByTapatalk1361483769.324173.jpg

The leather is also opening more
Observe:
ImageUploadedByTapatalk1361483834.023594.jpg

If you look closely you can see mini brittle stars that seem to have been living on it since day 1. They clean it but never harm it. Great job

Duncan's coral is also awake now...guess I won't have to move it after all!

Next additions will be these
After I frag them and share them
ImageUploadedByTapatalk1361484031.648682.jpg

The clowns wanted to say hi too

ImageUploadedByTapatalk1361484105.038896.jpg

They came as a pair but they oppose sleeping in the same area. Infact they stay as far away as possible. So I bought the ones for the 90 and they are more of a "pair"

So now that I am done with the hard stuff now its time for the even harder!

What did this system cost me to build!?
Great question
Light-189
Mount-10
Power strip w/1week timer-40
Powerheads-50(both used)
90g-100 dollars lightly used
Stand-160
Plumbing-35
Drilled 10g war tank-20 (Lego overflow:priceless)
Hanging light w/2700k bulb 20
29gskimmer tank-75
Hob overflow for skimmer tak-100
55g DIY sump- 75 w/glue and baffles
210w ham tech pc light-100
Red fan -5 on clearance woo!
Return pump-40 dollars used
Heaters -30
130lbs rock-500 bones
Sand-60 (plan on 60 more)
Snowflake clowns-a lot
Black mollie .99
Fairy Wrasse-30
Inverts-45
Breeding peppermints in the sump 30
And for the corals cost, we will just leave that be.

I still have to do my theater style curtain system to hide my lighting and I may swap my power heads for some controllable ones.

I also plan on adding a 2nd light which the mounting system will easily accommodate without altering it

Nice new additions!!

So far nearly instant gratitude. The corals are all happy. The sea whip is going to be full blown tomorrow by the looks of things.
Everything else will only keep growing. No issues with any settling during feeding. The flow kicks all the stuff off the sand before it collects!

Ok so my plans have changed. I'm tearing down the tank today. Just kidding!
I did however change some things. Instead of making a seperate tank for y skimmer i am making it into a bypass able clown breeder. Once the snowflakes from the 125 get larger and start breeding they will live in there with plastic plants and some aragocrete.
When they have babies I will catch the parents and relocate them while I grow the babies out.
The tank is now a part of the system and no leaks!

The clear utube is from the war tanks overflow. It just keeps the hose from kinking. My return is split and sending half to the 29'and half to the 90 upstairs.
There is a huge pump in te 29 for initial Mixing and I left it there as a temporary powerhead which will be removed when I add scenery.
I will have air bubblers in it during bypass mode for the babies too.

Automation: my next feat.
The things I hope to automate will be
A) water change
B)testing
C) dosing
D) feeding

Now to the drawing board!

Sea whip! Awake?! Early!!???!!
ImageUploadedByTapatalk1361748663.548248.jpg

And the flower pot has developed great hues of red!
ImageUploadedByTapatalk1361748713.337785.jpg

Great looking growth on the blasto too!

The acan I fragged has almost completed his head I cut in half.
ImageUploadedByTapatalk1361748846.790273.jpg

And the Duncan. Oh the Duncan.
