Air bubbles created by algae?

50% if your capable of doing so without exposing anything. And cleaning everything out aftwards would be a good idea.

Fuge light is ok to run, thats where you want the algae to grow.

Hmm so on day 3. About 6hrs away from the full 72hrs the filter floss has barely any brown gunk in it. I stuck some new floss up there, I think I am going to wait an additional 12hrs before I look

No harm in waiting. Skimmers work differently, and I know the junk would be rolling out now if you were running a skimmer. Make sure you do that water change when its finished. The water should look crystal clear after your done.

RM what do you think I should do for lights after?

I have the 32W nano LED light from AI.

It has White, Blue, Royal Blue

How many hours do you think I should run them, and should I ever peak at the 100%?

I'm also about to uncover both my tanks. One with a dimmable led and the other with power compacts and metal halides. Wondering how long the photo period should start out with? I would assume full 12 hr wouldn't be good right off the bat.

Time frames on running lights is huge, I say anywhere from 8-12 hours is fine. I run my Hydra at 100%, but I had 250w Halides over the tank before the LED, the corals never blinked about it.

Yea, you can go right back to where you were at before the lights out.

Well it looks like the dino's are coming back. I guess I gotta break the tank down...

Do you guys know if I can transfer my frags into another tank without spreading Dinos?

As long as they don't have any on them. Refresh my memory, are you dosing hydrogen peroxide?

I am dealing with the same thing in my tank. It has killed off snails and my favorite Anthias is now M.I.A. My water parameters are perfect. The tank is well established 8 plus years. Peroxide seemed to help a little and three days of darkness took out about 95% of it. A week after the darkness it is slowly coming back. I am ready to nuke the tank and start over..it is not a nutrient thing in my tank it seems to be 100% photosynthetic. I have had led's on the tank for years. this outbreak started when i switched to a new light fixture.

wouldn't leaving the light on in the fuge give the dinos a place to survive with nutrients during a 72 hr blackout?
I cleaned my whole fuge out when I did my black out, down to bare glass. also before doing the water change, I "stormed" the whole tank AND sump with a power head to hopefully get it all dislodged and out of the system.. . it seemed to be successful for me, altho I would say I had a very light case. or caught it very early on, thanks to the help and knowledge of the good people here. good luck!

I am dosing with H202 but I think I might stop. Some of my Acan's are starting to shrink up. I am not entirely sure it is related though.

i was having the same air/gas bubbles all over the rock. corals coming out of the sand along w/ a heavy algae problem..
I finally tested for Phosphates. nitrate, both were off the color chart using the Salifert test kits. I got my PO4 under control,
NO3 still high, For the PO4 problem i started using sparkle,Also stirred up the sand bed a few times deeply.. Those air/gas bubbles are gone.
For the PO3 i am doing the vodka thing, I feed to heavy, but my fish are fat and healthy .this tank been set up since 05
don't know if this will help, but it did for me

Sorry man, Im out of ideas. Other than to repeat the lights out again, and dose, maybe the second time will rid the tank of it.
