Air bubbles created by algae?

Have you checked your nitrate and phosphate levels? I suspect you might have a problem I that area. Most of these algae problems are caused by overfeeding. Need your test results to be able to help.

I posted them a little earlier, but here they are again

1.024-1.025
0 ammonia
0 nitrite
0 phosphate
0-10PPM Nitrate accoding to API reef test

Do the lights out, and follow the instructions on the link. Can't go wrong there, its not going to hurt.

I just lost my Dino battle battle. You dont seem to have them as bad as I did so you might have better luck defeating Dino. By the way thanks for all the help reefing madness.

+1 to reefing madness. I would go ahead and try everything. just because it didn't work for me doesn't mean it wont for you, its not going to hurt any

Ok I will follow the guide. The first step is to buy GAC. In reading a little bit further down he says

"Need to post an update. I started dosing carbon via vodka ... bad idea. Dinos are starting to reappear. I'm not sure if it's a C:PO4 balance issue, but I am finding that adding carbon does indeed encourage dino growth. I'm suspending carbon dosing for now, and I may do another black-out period if the dinos don't recede in a couple weeks."

Does this mean I should not buy the GAC or is what he is talking about there something completely different?

The carbon dosing they are referring to is Vodka Dosing, not using GAC. And I find it hard to believe that carbon dosing would fire up the dinos, as this removes nutrients from the water column. Makes not sense why he would think that.

Hmm well I only have an 8Gallon tank w/o a skimmer.

Here is my plan of attack, please let me know what you think RM.

1) Place an aerator inside the tank.
2) Lights out completely w/ black garbage bag over the top of the tank for 3 days
3) On day 3 siphon out as much of the algae as I can, and turn on my blue lights only for the next week.
4) do a 3gallon water change which = 50%
5) Dose .08ml peroxide each day for a week
6) Pray it doesnt come back and my corals make it through this.

Anything I should add or change up?

What should I run in my media basket during the light outage?

Currently I have a purigen and chemipure elite. On the very top I have a little filter floss that I have been changing out every other day because it is loaded with brown dino's

Ugh this sucks. I'll try the 3 day complete blackout and see how it goes. Do you guys know if I should feed during the blackout?

I wouldn't. the food adds to the nutrient load.

the combination of no light and no food will insure that stuff dies off.

then resume feeding and light and adjust so the corals thrive but that uglies don't come back.

Have you had to do this before? Just the 3 day blackout was enough for you?

*Bump*

I plan to go lights out tonight. Any idea's on what I should run in the media basket?

Okay well i'm lights out now. I plan to change out the filter floss every day. I'll let you guys know how it goes.

3 days. NO feeding, no lights, no peeking. Your corals will be fine. Just run a floss during the black out, theres going to be a lot of algae die off, you don't want it roaming around the tank.

Ok, what if I reached up under the bag and swapped out the filter floss I put in each day?
