Hmmm....I guess I should update this.

So what's happened since last time I updated this thread?

The Jaebo doser randomly decided one day my alk needed to go from 8-12 and made it so. This pretty much nuked all the things that weren't my nem.

For some odd reason, two encrusting corals survived, the orange one that never shows up as orange in photos and a red one. I oddly also have some random purply blue acro that was still on a plug and was pretty much dead so when it blew off of the rock and back behind the rockwork I just left it be. Was cleaning in the tank last month and pulled him out and it had actually survived and regained tissue.

I placed a LPS order with AquaSD last month and got back some things I enjoy like the blastos, duncans...etc.

In the mean time I've just been hand dosing my Core7 Supplements for the last few months. I finally figured I would go back to a doser again. I already had one of those dual DOS/DDR containers that I had picked up on the cheap from a going out of business sale, so I picked up a second one and 2 DOS. I've been waiting on Core7-Other to come back in stock again for about 2 weeks now. I still have plenty left that I would probably make it because stock is starting to come in (supposedly), but I was talking to @Rakie and started comparing cost of Triton vs ATI and decided now would be a good time to switch.

I have been running bio-pellets this entire time and they were doing fine, but I was constantly ending up with bacteria building up in the DT and my Chaeto was still striving so I figured it was time for a change. A few ago I hit up @GoVols about his Purigen success and decided I would try that out. So I swapped that into a regular reactor and am currently running the purigen in it's own reactor and a GFO/GFC reactor to pair with it. These two combined with my Fuge are so far giving me a good primary and secondary Nutrient reduction method without having to keep 500# of Chaeto in my sump. This freed up room for a flame angel and a bi color blenny, neither of which will run out of food anytime soon. The change over has got my DT into an uglies algae stage as things re-balance themselves, but I'm confident it will work itself out.

The peppermint shrimp I had put in the sump for the Apstasia I had gotten did an excellent job and still does of keeping them out of the sump. This still didn't stop them from getting into the DT. At first I only saw a few and knocked them out with spot treatments. Next thing I knew I had about a hundred. Dropped in a bunch of Bergy Nudis a few weeks ago and they're doing what they do and the problem is almost resolved.

Now of coarse no update is complete without pictures so let's see here. Ah yeah this happened 2 weeks ago:

That would be water damage in my kitchen from my hot water heater deciding it made a better fountain then tank. As a result, this is a picture taken in my kitchen last night:

Wow. Quite an update. Sorry about the floor. At least the tank seems to be progressing after the overdose. Glad to hear that.

It's actually not that bad for us as we never would have picked that floor or those cabinets to begin with so everything is getting changed. I'm doing the walls (22 sheets of green board) and we're having contractors do the floor (tile) and the new cabinets and countertops.

And insurance is paying for all of it so meh.

Insurance coverage is great news to hear. Especially if you never liked it. Who would have ever thought you would have a big flood and not have it be rank related. Happened to me in the basement and when the wife called and said flood first thing I thought was the tank (she left the sink running LOL).

Sounds like it is settling again.
I have a Kamoer 3 channel sitting in it's box still, doser "oops" events frighten the heck out of me, I've had it for a couple of years now. ;)

The only thing that frustrates me about it is I flat out just got unlucky. The Jaebo doser actually has a solid reputation and apparently they're decent enough it looks like ATI rebranded it and made it into a 6 channel with the ATI name on it. We all know it can happen and like you I was just super unlucky.

At the end of the day, once the Trident comes out, it should help with problems like this, but it is what it is. I'm not super upset or anything. I've always turned all my own sticks white anyways, so it only makes sense that the one time I actually had it working something like this would happen. Karma I guess.

Yeah man, I mean I don't want to say we were excited about the tank spraying 120 degree water into the house for a few hours while I was asleep and she was at work, but at the end of the day we're not heartbroken it happened. Afterall this is exactly what insurance is for.

On a side note, notice in the new photo the plumbing for the hot water heater is gone. Moved that sucker to the porch and upgraded from a 25G to a 55G!

Oh snap!

I guess I should add that we should have enough money left over after all the repairs because I am personally doing so many of them that I will actually be able to afford my dream tank

https://www.marinedepot.com/NUVO_IN...riums-Innovative_Marine-0I6717-FIAQML-vi.html

And after having a larger and smaller tank I know that 48x24x20 is exactly what I want.

The wife is getting granite counters, I'm getting a tank :p

@GoVols Freddie, you're not going to just stroll in here and litter my inbox with 1500 likes and not say a word....

BTW Jim Carey is my favorite actor :P

Just trolling ;Stig along.

Sorry for the mess and hope @Flippers4pups is doing okay.

Oh and also, I'm totally blaming the expected algae outbreak in the tank when switching from biopellets to purigen on you just because, so there you go.
