I like ATI, and I'm glad you are willing to try it! As much as I like it, I'll be switching to BRS when I'm out of ATI Essentials.

I still think my most explosive growth was from ME Corals Alkalinity. It kept the pH elevated and I did notice a difference. Almost enough of a difference to get a CO2 scrubber... But the media for the thing is like $60 a month...

I 100% would love to know, and relay to a ton of other people, how on round two the trials of round one affected the approach here.

need framing of the matter regarding:

*detritus, and do you store it

*action sequence, what if bryopsis pops up on a rock tomorrow, what happens


*accessibility, did you intend to build the tank in a manner that is accessible, should a rule-breaking DNA get its way in.

*What is the plan if a rule-breaking DNA gets in, and replicates into an organism, despite all preventatives, whats the nuc option to never lose round 2? I had to downsize to get my round two in behavior. doing it in a large tank is very tricky, but doable 100% sure.

If someone asked me those questions in 2000, and then in 2002, massive different answers. I soooo much enjoy getting long term follow up on chats...if not the tank, then of the reefer who runs em. how did evolution manifest here in technique. your answers are part of hardcore tank invasion science follow up that's a fact.

You seem like you're having pretty decent success with the essentials and your tank finally seems to be settling down as your consumption is way up, why back off a trace supplement method and go back to something like a regular 2 part?

You seem like you're having pretty decent success with the essentials and your tank finally seems to be settling down as your consumption is way up, why back off a trace supplement method and go back to something like a regular 2 part?

They just needed more light. I was dosing around 90mL or so before ripping everything off the rockwork and putting them on frag racks. They aren't getting prime light on the rack, so they went down to like 30mL daily, which is nothing... After starting to bump the lights up to 100% they came back to life, even on the frag rack.. Consumption is way up.

I know I caught up on your thread last night, which is why I asked why you would change dosing when your dosing has just ticked back up again and things have a good opportunity to grow under these lights with this system.

I'm wondering if there's a build up of excess trace elements. I'm having something happen that I've never had like this -- Corals turning green. I've got a few that went kinda green on me. Maybe a change would fix it.. Maybe not.

What I can say is my growth got much better after using ATI, especially growth structure.. I had a few that just grew like string beans, but once I started ATI they all started branching out.

Who knows... Maybe just removing the Mag so I'm dosing less trace is the answer... Hard to say.

IIRC I thought the majority of the trace was in the Ca for ATI?

Also I know you're a poor, but have you considered running an ICP?

I've got a triton test sitting in my drawer actually lol. But it's actually equally split into CA/Mag.

I dunno Bruce, I still thing we're taken about equal punishment.

Ironically the Apstasia thing is not really something I ever consider a big deal. Yeah Bergy Nudis are expensive, but they are literally built for 1 thing and 1 thing only and that's to eat Apstasia. Assuming you don't have something in your tank that eats them, they always succeed.

I could have sworn I read somewhere that the majority of the trace was in the CA portion and some was in the Mg portion. I'll have to look around.

In another IIRC properly I thought the presence of corals turning green had two sources, 1 being Mg levels and the other being the presence and amount of UV. I THOUGHT I read about that phenomenon in something Dana posted a while back, but I could be completely off base and making things up.

Either way after reading through your thread it feels like your tank could use a month of steady to really get a good idea of what you can expect to be your max potential out of ATI before you switch.

Yeah, the only reason I even mentioned it was because when I was reading through your thread it felt like you went from
ATI + old lights
ATI + new lights not calibrated
ATI + new lights calibrated + Algae
ATI + pulling corals for bugs
ATI + failed bug treatment
ATI + dipping again
to finally ATI+ finally increased dosage

It just felt like you've had a lot of ups and downs which would have made it really hard to compare. It will be interesting to see if your tank goes through a stage of mad again if/when you switch.

I want to give another shout out to @AquaSD because they just rock.

On August 2nd I received one of their $100 for 10 LPS frags orders. I'm not a big fan of acans, so I specified in the order "things that move with flow" Got things like Duncans and Blastos...etc.

Today I received a $100 for 10 SPS frags order, I know I kill sticks so I told them I'm terrible with thin skinned acros so asked for Millies and Stags. Again I got 11 corals, 9 of which were millies or stags. Also I didn't get bottom dollars corals like birdsnest, monti caps and stlyos, they are actually nicer corals.

So in total for the month of August I paid $280 if you count shipping and have 22 corals to try again with all of the dosing pumps setup...etc to see how many I can kill this time. It doesn't make sense for me to order nicer stuff until I can figure out these stupid sticks so I don't really care if every frag I have is a $2 crapper (they aren't by the way), I have things in my tank I can work with that doesn't break the bank.

I hate sticks, I hate sticks, I hate sticks!

I will try to get frag rack pictures later when lights come on, but I'm smack in the middle of kitchen reno and the last of the tile is going down today along with the grout so I may or may not get to it. Either way, if you suck at corals like me or want to stock a new tank on the cheap and get good quality and HEALTHY corals, I again HIGHLY recommend AquaSD. I mean heck my invoice says in bold (Focus Millies and Stags) right next to the line item for the order. How do you beat that?

Since I know I won't have a ton of time today and I looked over and my blues were just coming on I snapped a quick picture.

Please note the one with the red arrow is my only personal fail from my last order, all other 10 are doing great and this one is hanging on, but not agreeing well with my tank (it happens). The blue arrow is the one I mentioned before that I found after a few month hiatus floating around behind my rockwork.
