Yeah and the sand bed was coated and now its completely clean but sadly my victory was short lived cause now I have bubble algae and hair algae

Yah I tried all that .. nothing worked.

That did. My tank was a mess at one point -- like real bad. Bubble got wiped out by that, and mojanos I killed with a laser!
Yea my tank was a real mess this summer

I would use boyd chemi clean works like a charm and had no adverse side effects
I second this...nothing else works but chemi clean. Wasted my money doing all that water change, increase flow , nada...1 dose of chemi clean and all I went through was skimmer going crazy...then did a a water change after the tank cleared up...beauty...HIGHLY RECOMMEND

I have just recently dealt with cyano, I still have it but slowly reversing it. It was all due to low nitrates. They were non-measurable. So I bumped it up to 3-5 ppm. I was also carbon dosing at same time. One time I slacked off on nitrates for a week, my phosphates skyrocketed again, so I had to quickly get back right on it again with the nitrates and phosphates dropped again. While I still have some cyano, it has stalled and reduced greatly. In fact, my coralline is growing again. I recommended doing some research on the Redfield ratio. Life needs a lot more nitrates then it does phosphate (ratio wise), so lack of nitrates your good bacteria and macroalgae can't out compete cyano since cyano feeds off of organics such as amino acids. If you had high phosphates and high nitrates then of course that would be a different story.

For sure going to look into this

@qstorm @Star reefer3 @MnFish1 and anyone else that used chemiclean ... I added some yesterday late, anything you guys did when you did the water change in regards to nutrients and your #s. Anything you think I need to watch, do or be pro active about?
Your skimmer will overflow - I just took the top off - you don t want the skimmer on for the first day. Otherwise follow the instructions - you might need a second treatment. Another thing - though it may be too late - make sure you correctly estimate your water volume - ie keep rocks, etc in mind.

Oh - and no it didnt affect the parameters in my tank at all.

One thing is take out carbon. And if the cyano is like 90 percent gone agter the waterchange with a little bit left here and there dont worry and dont dose again the residual chemiclean will kill the rest of it

Did you guys put the skimmer back to full go with cap on after the water change and after tat 48 hours have passed? I can't imagine the skimmer just goes back to "normal" after the water change seeing as there is still some of the medication in there ...

Yea just put the cup back on and also wait 48 hours before doing the water change for best effect
