...are MP40s worth the money...???

I have 2 MP40 and the only thing that is really better about them is that they are the only power head that keeps the cords outside the tank and they look so much cleaner than many other "on the glass" power heads.
The controllers are nice I guess, but I think any controller would be fine.
I really like the look, but that is the only thing the money is for. If you just want performance, get something else. I only bought them because I spent so much on the rest of my tank, I wanted it to look as good as possible. As soon as they get jabeo type competition, I'd be switching for future purchases. Wish it would happen, doesn't seem like it ever will.

I honestly think the price is the only issue because otherwise, these pumps are simply amazing. However, I think Tunze pumps are pretty awesome too. I just designed and 3d printed a wide nozzle mod for my ~10 year old 6025, put some silicon inside of the pump holder to prevent it from sliding around so much, and that thing turned into a completely different animal. It feels like the flow tripled. I'm going to put it back in the rotation. I haven't had any experience with the controllable Tunze pumps, but from what I hear they are also pretty reliable.

I have 4 MP60s, 2 MP40s and an MP10.
Every time I buy a different device for flow it doesn't do what I want and I end up buying another Vortech.
They could definitely be made better though.

I would say they are worth it if you can work it into your budget, buying them used is another option as I have done that myself, I got mine for $250, the plastic on the wet-side was brittle and I have small fish that I don't want sucked up.. so I remixed a STL file I found on thingiverse, and its working better and way way stronger than the original. its so strong, that I was ablle to stand on it with one foot and it did not even crack...
The MP40 is a B@D@$$ powerhead that is versatile, powerful, programable, and modifiable!! so I would surly say it is the best powerhead money can buy.

Yes I saved the file...lol.. i made many of them. I have spares that I use when I need to clean it out, I just switch them out.
