...are MP40s worth the money...???

My jebaos have been problem free. Lets not forget....vortechs have their own reliability issues as well. I have seen more "needs a new wetside", "rattles", etc...vortechs for sale than I can count. For costing so much, vortechs sure do breakdown a lot.

Call me a dabbler if you want, but I can buy six wp40 for the price of 1 mp40wes. I call it being a smart shopper =P some people in this hobby have the money to spend on the perceived premium performance and prestige of a vortech. others just want the high performance at a fair price.

To get the performance of the six wp40's I have on my system I would need to spend over $3000 in vortechs. I spent 480$ for all six of my wp40's and from my experience with tunze/vortech/korallia - I sacrificed nothing in performance. My corals sure can't tell that I saved 2500$.... I have had zero issues with the jebaos. To each his own :xd:

I definitely wasn't trying to insult and by no means do I claim any equipment is maintenance free. I certainly wish the best for you with your jebaos, mine has been a headache and still isn't working, but I don't agree you would need an equal amount of Vortechs on a 300g. The Vortechs work together to move water unlike the wp's. that is why I believe you can only compare Tunze to Jebao. If you could link them to work together then they might move water like MP's. Others have said it before and I agree, many pumps can make a wave but only Vortechs can imitate tidal swell currents, which I think is ultimately valuable, or have a wave which switches to a swell and back throughout the day. I believe I'm paying for that technology along with all the other pluses, great support in the US, quality parts, etc.

I'm not bashing Jebao- the debate is endless- I'm just sharing my experience.

I'm pretty sure coral only grow in certain part of the ocean with certain types of currents for more reasons than just a coincidence.

I have 1 mp40 in my 120 display and it works out great. I also have the ups battery backup which comming from the wireless telecom business where redundancy is key means that much more.

I have Vortech and Jebaoo and as cool as the Vortechs are they aren't worth paying over 4x what the jebaoo costs. I put one WP40 in my 40B and it literally pushes water over the edge of the tank so I have to run it on low but they are incredible pumps to say the least for the $$. My MP10 Is pretty awesome but I still feel as I overpaid greatly

yep, 1 wp40 will make a big enough wave to overflow quite a few small/medium sized tanks. not until you are over 100 gal or so do you generally have room for the wave on full speed

...thank you for all the responses guys...I will be going with the MP40's...one of the major draws for me is NO HEAT transfer...I don't have much wiggle room with my temperature...also, they do appear to hold their value better...finally, the quality looks great and I appreciate quality products !!!

I'm 100% positive you'll like your MP40's, as I do too.
I have 5 running on my SPS DT and 2 for fragtank and 1 to mix the saltwater.

And still manage to leave foods and detritus on the sand bed. Amazing what a wave it can create but still leave dead spots right under the power head.

If you need absolutely no dead areas get 2 wp 40's place them at opposite ends or stacked vertically. problem solved and you still save 300$ over an mp40

you may save money. if it works, the wave replication from my vortechs has noticeably made my tank healthier. i'd put a trolling motor in my tank if i wanted to just move a lot of water.

Wp40 create the same if not better waves and currents in the tank. I put one in a 500 gallon tank and it still made a 1" wave across the eight foot tank being 8" down the tank:thumbup:

Wise indeed. The day I cannot provide the best for my Wife's and my animals is the day I'll tear our tank down and get rid of our dogs and cat. Great choice. Its not just flow, its fit, finish, features, customer support, resale value, and so on. And Diesel is right, u won't be mad. Take some time to find the best placement for ur pump(s) and set the right gap position etc. Best wishes with ur purchases.

I will never spend that amount of money on a powerhead. LOL. I do like the fact that Vortechs has no heat addition due to exterior motor and the sleek design, but all this wave mode random flow B.S. is really just marketing stuff (IMO). I bought a jebao wp40 and sold it a few days later....just too much flow!! I guess for now im keeping the koralia's untill they die on me.

sounded good until someone said that the motors were crapping out, not sure if its just me but i would not want to spend that kind of money if there was a chance of them messing up, my hydor have been going for a few years and I have never had issues with them , and if you do just buy more you still wont be as much as the mp's
