Best Emergency Generator- Need Answer ASAP

Fun Laughing GIF by Jimmy the Mower

Sorry to be that dude with the ASAP in the title but we're having a bizarre cold front in Dallas. It's been < 15 degrees F for the last three days with 6" of snow. They are now doing rolling blackouts and I need to get an emergency generator. I have to get one from home depot.

Was hoping y'all have some quality suggestions that I can go snag real quick in case I get caught up in this.

This is going to be devastating... I have at least $10,000 into my tank. I’m such an idiot for not preparing for this. All of the stores closed early. I need a miracle. Something like this has never occurred in Dallas. Freaking out, it looks like they turned the power off just a block away.

I have a Duracell PowerSource Quiet Gasless Portable Power and Solar Generator, 1440w Output Inverter (1800w Peak) it runs my equipment for my Red Sea 350.

How does the small generator work? I feel like running gas powered anything is a bad idea inside a house..

It’s like a large battery Perfect for the house

Might have to prepare to follow the redneck guide for tonight anyways.

Really praying this fb marketplace person doesn’t sell both of their generators.

I hope you get a generator. If not, oxygen is most critical. If you don’t have a battery operated pump, try to get one or two or more (bait store, Walmart, amazon). You can even manually stir your tank vigorously periodically. Or even get a gallon pitcher remove and add water back in for circulation.

Temperature will become important later. Can you start to insulate your tank with foam, blankets, etc?

I would get a generator on order then hook it up when it gets there. Good luck!

Worst case scenario, I have a fireplace near the tank and hands to swirl the water.

You may have an outlet in your car or van that can help as well.

Unfortunately, the cold will kill long before oxygenation. I can swirl all night if I have to. I

I Have the tailgaiting generator from Harbot frieght, good small I think output is 900 watts for $90 buck and will run enough usually to keel stuff alive (count on needing a can of starter fluid after first few uses) other generator I've gotten from HD is the Sportsman dual fuel, I like to use with propane hook up so carb doesn't gum up.

Do you have a gas stove or cooktop? Start warming up bottles of water.

This is what the bustling city of Dallas looks like right now, there is a street light in front of me....

getting logs right now and hoping that will suffice to keep my fish warm.

Grocery store is closed. I’m screwed... hopefully the neighbors have some

The NYT was saying that the blackouts are only supposed to last in each area for an hour or so... hopefully your power comes back on again soon. Wishing you luck.

Driving through alleys to find wood.

That was originally their plan but then they lost control of the grid. My grandfather was out of power for 7 hours today.

Praying I strike it rich and stumble upon some spare firewood in the alley.

If you check behind certain stores, some places you can find pallets. There's a restaurant near where I live where there's always a stack behind the store. They burn plenty well. Careful on the roads.
