Best way to go about treating these fish?

Here’s a quick video

At this point this is an emergency the fish looks horrible. Looking very weak and breathing very heavily.

I just added 1 ml of copper power to begin raising the copper level in the water.

Is there anything else I can do?

Weird - again, your post didn't get flagged for me last night.

That does look like ich, but I cannot account for why the powder blue tang isn't showing spots since they get it so easily.

You should get the copper up to full dose today.

Not sure either about the powder blue but it according to the lfs owner he said the powder blue would get covered in spots from him just netting it. Turns out this has been the most active and healthy fish out of the 3.

the powder blue is an extremely fast fish makes the other 2 look like they’re moving in slow motion.

I have been slowly dosing since yesterday. I am up to about 1.1 ppm if my calculations are correct. Still waiting on my test kit. Should arrive today.

Will keep updating throughout the process. Thank you for all your help really!!

Just wanted to show a video because I am pretty happy with the progress since yesterday. Blue tang is looking much better imo, powder blue still looks the same as always zooming across the whole tank, and naso is just floating there like she always does. But no one is breathing as rapidly or looking as stressed as they were yesterday.

seems the copper is much easier on them than the prazi pro. At least at the rate I am dosing it.

They are chowing on some selcon soaked nori atm. The naso not interested in much but will nibble on things when I’m not looking. I also threw soaked mysis bloodworms and pellets in too in hopes of that the naso would eat.

Ps. Pumps / aeration are off for the video

I’m not a fan of soaking food in selcon or vitamins etc. The logic is that the material is just going to rinse off as fast as it soaked in to the food.
Naso don’t always eat vegetable matter, so mysids would be better. It is still breathing pretty fast though….

This morning my naso is laying on its side, still breathing but looking like it’s gonna go at any minute.

really sad because this was my favorite fish out of the 3.

since yesterday I noticed this “lifeless” look on her face. She was kinda just floating there. You could even see it in the last video I posted

Could this be a reaction to the copper? Not sure if I should do a wc to dilute copper or maybe a copper treated wc to reduce ammonia?

other 2 fish are still breathing pretty rapidly but are swimming and eating

She got up and swam around for a second then went back to the spot and laid down

Copper Power itself won't cause any issues in tangs. If the ammonia is elevated above 0.50 ppm, then yes, a copper dosed WC would be the way to go.

I would like to know what you think. Today marks day 8 since the initial prazi dose. Would it be better for me to wait until after the copper treatment is done to start with prazi again? The treatments really seem harsh on the fish. Another prazi dose is scary right now. Especially together with copper. that’s why I ask what would be best for them? I lost the naso and I would hate to lose another one.

both are eating great atm. Blue hippo is really shy now maybe reaction to the copper but the spots have cleared. when I’m not standing in front of the tank she’s out swimming and looking for food. The powder blue is doing good too except I have noticed a lot of scratching on rocks and random twitching. The blue hippo also scratches on rocks pretty often now ever since I added the medications.

I will try to post a video in a bit

Got some quick clips of them hitting the nori. Not the best videos because they don’t like to come out when I’m in front of them. But I set my phone down and walked away. those were some of the clips I got from the video.

you can see blue hippo scratching on the rock at the end of the second clip

Ps. All those white spots in the photos are bubbles

I always prefer to treat with copper and then prazi. Sometimes, when the fish have mixed infections, or the diagnosis isn’t clear, both need to be done at the same time. In your case, the first prazi treatment bought you some time, so I think you are pretty safe in finishing the copper and then try the prazi again (or skip it if you aren’t seeing symptoms).

Thank you so much for all the help !

they are eating like pigs the both of them. Flakes, pellets, nori, homemade fish food, pretty much everything!

so I am pretty optimistic for these 2 :)

Good evening jay.

was hoping you could help answer some questions I have.

when would I be able to completely rid this qt tank of copper and use it as a observation tank for these fish? I have read about the need to fallow after ich. Would I not be able to use this same tank as an observation tank for these fish after the copper treatment?

I was recommended 30 days of copper, not sure if that’s enough to rid the entire qt of parasites. As I’ve read sometimes the life cycle can be 70+ days

Also, on a side note

when I first got the powder blue I noticed it had a white lump on its anal fin about middle of the fin. Since I started these treatments it looks like the lump has moved towards the outer edge, as if it’s falling off?

best way to describe the lump is a white ish piece of bread crumb or something. Looks like it’s stuck to the fin like if you could literally pull it off which would obv not be a good idea.

will post pics in a second

Was trying to find older photos can’t seem to find any but these were taken just now

The white lump is Lymphocytis, a viral disease that may spread but won’t kill the fish and will go away after a month or two. Don’t try to remove it, that just spreads the virus.
Yes, you can hold the fish in their copper treated tank for the balance of the fallow period, just reduce the copper to less than 1/4!of the full dose.
Jay

So it seems the blue hippo is all bruised up, from all the scratching.

The powder blue has been scratching alot too.

They both twitch their bodies sometimes worse than others. best way I can describe it, would be looks like they are trying to shake something off themselves. Is this the copper treatment or something else ??

I keep doing water changes not knowing my ammonia levels at this point.. I feel the results are being thrown off by the Copper Power. Always yellow (0) at the beginning of the 15 min countdown then at the end of the 15 mins it will show a darkish blue reading of over 2.0 ppm
