I'm definitely talking about an elegance coral, they are one of my favorite corals. It's just not opening up all of the way right now. Here are some pics of my old one. You can see the angelfish that did it in lingering in a couple of the photos, it should have clicked to me that almost all of the photos of that elegance the angel was in the background towards the end. For a size estimate, that clownfish in the pics is over 3 inches.

Wow beautiful!! It's been brought to my attention that my S. Haddoni carpet is probably more likely to consume a tank mate than an elegance would... that being said adding an elegance would leave two corners of the tank as possible danger zones in my lil 60g cube. It seems to me there's only one course of action, a new tank! Although I suppose forgoing the elegance is an option but I think I prefer the new tank idea.

Hey nice to meet you today! Did you take home that bonsai? The two small pieces I picked up were great! Thanks for the advice on my "green piece"! The other piece I got, since I got it home, has started to glow! Love getting a new piece home! And LOVE the prices at that shop!

It was great meeting you too. I always like putting faces with names! Yes, I brought the bonsai home and I love it. I also got a milli, stunner and zoa frag. The bonsai is pale right now, but I can already tell it's happy. The polyps are all the way out. The milli has all its polyps out now too. The zoas are still opening and sorry for the blurry pic.

Hey liquid I didn't read the whole thread so excuse this if its been covered but the green thing is a hydnophora, very aggressive and will destroy the acro it's next to

No that wasn't covered! Thanks! I'll keep a close eye and remove it. It was mounted like that at the wholesale level. Seems odd they'd mount them together if one were destructive. Thanks for that nfo!!

Not that you haven't already figured it out but the frag disk itself gives it away, different patterns. I always try to match the disks(color, material, deformities etc) before I accept a frag from a previous picture. Glad it worked out and the answer yo your last question is yes, but if you keep the Acro up stream, it can be done.

+1 on the hydnophora. The frag that is sharing space with the acro needs to be taken off and put somewhere else. They need 2 - 3" of room around them because they are aggressive. I noticed that, but didn't say anything. It is the same coral as the one on the disc by itself.

Connie, if what you say is true, won't he just have problems in a year when they grow out? To be safe I would place on different levels and 6-8 if worried about warfare

This was my thought as well, that I'll eventually have to separate them but its not an emergency that they separate now is it? It's a question of growth rate and not an aggressive murderous coral colony correct? Cause I'll euthanize that hydnophora if it launches an unprovoked preemptive attack on the acro! Lol coral war is fun...

yeah I dont know why the wholesaler put those two on a frag plug together. I was in there the other day and noticed a few frags of the hydnophora and acro together. weird. on another note I have a happy huge elegance coral that I never feed. He has eaten 2 shrimp though (RIP shrimpy). My clown host him. He expands to 12 inches across during the day. Ill go find a pic

Thank you DSdaley....yes..the more room the better. I have one pretty large in my tank and I have about 3" of area around it. It is a fast grower and it also encrusts, so you can't move it once it takes hold. I have a birdsnest closest to it, but it isn't anchored down and will be easy to relocate. Liquid, I would go ahead and remove the frag off the plug with the acro because It will kill it. I would also put it somewhere with plenty of room...at least 3 - 4"...6-8" if you have the real estate. Hydnophora is very hardy so you should just be able to pull it off and glue it by the other hydnophora frag. I'd love to know who is selling those to them. They really should know better.

Great video/photos! I've got four clowns, soon to be five and not a single one had shown any interest in hosting. I'm about to take one, wrap him up in my carpet anemone, and staple him shut for a few weeks. I'd grab up an elegance today if I believed for a moment any of my clown troupe would host it!
