I think we have decided to keep mainly softies and lps in the new tank. Andrew and I discussed the budget and agreed sps are expensive to replace. He still wants to explore them, but we will only do trades of frags. I will leave it up to him if he wants something special for that tank for birthdays and such.

That's a good plan. Besides, you will have months after it's cycled before you put in any SPS anyway.

So much truth to this! Unfortunately, I didn't meet anyone locally until after I had set up my second system.

@Katrina71 best thing to start with is draw up what you need to visualize what you're putting together, it's like that lil book that comes with legos to help you put them together.
Then you can measure what length certain pipes need to be.
I'll be doing this soon. I have 4 sticks of 2ft purple 1" showing up from BRS today, next week when I get my check I'm buying the rest of the plumbing bits.
Sometimes it's easier to lay everything out on the floor flat in the same exact layout as your drawing

If you want you can label each piece individually similar to the lego booklet so when you put it together you're simply gluing piece A to piece H and union to pipe B etc.
