Brute and phosphate issues

Well this sucks... I just bought several of these. :squigglemouth:
Don't worry to much about it, Brandon. The amounts of PO4 leached are almost negligible, if you're worried about it leach out by filling with RO/DI several times (see my earlier post).

I used Brute cans for years and had thriving reef tanks. I would likely still be using them if I didn't need considerably more water on hand than they will handle.

I just tested with a handheld meter and use a 34gal brute and have not cleaned it since i put this tank up (4months) my RODI reading was 0.00 IMO the Po4 is from another source, Over feeding would be my first guess or the foods used contain lots of Phos. But the list of causes may be many more not mentioned.

Do you think i am a Newbie, Ryan i tested TDS with a H&M Digital FYI

How long has your tank been up and running? LOL I know Bill, I know. I was just making sure we are comparing apples to apples here. Never heard of a handheld P04 meter...

The Club should get a few along with other things that can be useful like more Par meters. Waiting Months to get one to use is not what i call Happy Happy Happy

Who makes the handheld P04 monitor you speak of? I'm only aware of the Hanna Checkers. Do you use another brand or type to check P04?

H & M Digital makes a hand held Shane has one i borrowed.
Bill

I've done a quick Google search for hand held P04 checkers and all I come up with is the Hanna Checker. Please get me a part number or model number so I can research it.

This thread is about P04 not TDS. But I see where the confusion came in.

Yes there are plenty of hand held TDS meters out there. I was looking for a P04 hand held meter! :kev:

Plus everything being in the Boro/Smyrna is not fair to everyone else.

This is why I started the thread about members in northern middle TN and southern middle KY. Not that I feel it is unfair in any way, just would be easier to have a get together where I didn't have to drive 1.5 hours away.

Bill i feel your frustration.... i've been needing to check the par with the hybrid fixture i made last year.. but never did because of the demand.. but thats not because we dont have enough par meters.
Unfortunately with having lives and families we just dont have the man power to ensure borrowing terms/rules are met.. it would be great if we can, may be we need another BOD member that the keeper of equipment so they can ensure that rules and terms of use are followed..
